Article of Manufacture for Securing a Catalyst Substrate
An aftertreatment component for use in an exhaust aftertreatment system. The aftertreatment component comprises an aftertreatment substrate and a compressible material. The compressible material may be formed from a plastic thermoset, a rubberized material, or a metal foil which permits for the selective expansion of the substrate within the compressible material, while also reducing cost and manufacturing complexity. In various embodiments, the aftertreatment substrate and the compressible materials may be formed separately and coupled to each other, or they may be formed concurrently via coextrusion.
Exhaust gas treatment assembly unit
An exhaust gas treatment assembly unit for an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine includes a tubular outer housing (12) elongated in a direction of an outer housing longitudinal axis (L.sub.A), a tubular inner housing (14) elongated in the direction of an inner housing longitudinal axis (L.sub.I), an exhaust gas treatment unit (16) being carried in the inner housing (14), and a locking fixing device (24) detachably fixing the inner housing in the outer housing. The locking fixing device (24) includes a locking fixing element (26) held at the inner housing (14) in both axial directions with a radially outwards prestressed locking meshing area (28). In association with the locking meshing area (28), a locking receiving area (42) at the outer housing (12), interacts with the locking meshing area (28) for holding the inner housing (14) in the outer housing (12) in at least one axial direction.

Exhaust gas treatment arrangement
An exhaust gas treatment arrangement for an exhaust gas system of an internal combustion engine includes a housing which is elongated in the direction of a housing longitudinal axis, and at least one exhaust gas treatment unit which is arranged in the housing and has a shell. At least one bearing/sealing unit with at least two bearing/sealing rings is arranged in a radial intermediate space formed between the shell and the housing. The at least two bearing/sealing rings follow one another radially, are nested inside one another and are each interrupted in a circumferential interruption region. The circumferential interruption region of at least one of the bearing/sealing rings is offset in the circumferential direction with respect to a circumferential interruption region of another one of the bearing/sealing rings.
Support assembly
A support assembly supports an exhaust gas treatment element of an exhaust gas treatment unit for an exhaust gas system of an internal combustion engine. A carrying body is secured on a housing of an exhaust gas treatment unit and surrounds an assembly center axis as a ring or annulus. At least one flexible supporting element is carried on the carrying body. The supporting element has an exhaust gas treatment element supporting side for supporting interaction with an exhaust gas treatment element. The carrying body has a radial limb at least partially engaging radially over the supporting element on a carrying body supporting side facing away from the exhaust gas treatment element supporting side. The supporting element is supported by the carrying body supporting side thereof on the radial limb so as to be shiftable radially inward with respect to the carrying body.
Exhaust gas treatment assembly for an exhaust gas system of an internal combustion engine
An exhaust gas treatment assembly for an exhaust gas system of an internal combustion engine includes a housing defining a longitudinal axis. A first exhaust gas treatment unit is inserted in the housing and has a first casing and at least one first exhaust gas treatment unit carried in the first casing. A second exhaust gas treatment unit is inserted in the housing and has a second casing and at least one second exhaust gas treatment unit carried therein. A locking arrangement is for locking a first exhaust gas treatment unit in the housing at least against movement in the direction of the longitudinal axis in a locked state, wherein, when the first exhaust gas treatment unit and the second exhaust gas treatment unit are inserted in the housing, the locking arrangement is blocked in the locked state by the second exhaust gas treatment unit.
