Engine power module and cylinder head for same
An engine power module includes a water jacket, a cylinder liner, and a cylinder head. The water jacket forms a coolant supply conduit arranged in a lower coolant annulus extending around the cylinder liner and an upper coolant annulus extending around the cylinder head. The cylinder head has formed therein an injector bore, and a plurality of drill holes convergent on the injector bore. A lower coolant cavity in the cylinder head forms a coolant flow path extending circumferentially around the injector bore between a cavity inlet opening fluidly connected to the coolant supply conduit, and a cavity connection opening fluidly connected to an upper coolant cavity. The arrangement provides flows of coolant through the drill holes to cool an injector sleeve, and separate coolant flows through the lower coolant cavity and upper coolant cavity.
SPLIT COOLING SYSTEM OF INTERNAL COMBUSION ENGINE
A split cooling system of an internal combustion engine may include a water pump configured to circulate cooling water; a cylinder head and a cylinder block configured to be supplied with the cooling water from the water pump; an integrated flow control valve configured to include an inlet provided to be supplied with the cooling water of the cylinder head and a plurality of valves that are configured to be opened or closed to distribute the cooling water introduced through the inlet to an oil heat exchanger, a heater core, and a radiator; and a split cooler configured to be mounted at the cylinder block to provide a split cooling channel in the cylinder block and the cylinder header.
EXHAUST SIDE BLOCK INSERT, CYLINDER BLOCK ASSEMBLY INCLUDING THE SAME, AND HEAT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM OF ENGINE INCLUDING THE SAME
A cylinder block assembly may include a cylinder block, a cylinder body disposed in the cylinder block, with a plurality of cylinder bores formed in the cylinder body, a fluid jacket, which is formed between an inner circumferential surface of the cylinder block and an outer circumferential surface of the cylinder body, and through which coolant flows, and a block insert disposed in the water jacket and configured to guide a flow of coolant, wherein the cylinder block may include a second block coolant outlet, which is formed at a second side in a surface of an exhaust side of the cylinder block, and through which the coolant in the water jacket is discharged, and wherein the exhaust side may include a side at which combustion gas is exhausted out of the cylinder body.
VEHICLE
A vehicle includes a radiator, a bypass passage, a first valve, a second valve, and a controller. Cooling water is circulated through the radiator independently of a cylinder block and a cylinder head of an engine. The radiator cools the cooling water. The cooling water is circulated through the bypass passage while bypassing the radiator. The first valve switches between an open state in which cooling water is circulated through the cylinder block and a closed state in which cooling water is not circulated through the cylinder block. The second valve receives cooling water circulated through the cylinder head and cooling water circulated through the cylinder block via the first valve. The second valve uses an intermediate opening to adjust a flow rate of cooling water circulated through the radiator and the bypass passage. The controller controls opening and closing of the first valve and the opening of the second valve.
COMBUSTION MACHINE
A combustion machine comprising an internal combustion engine and a cooling system that has a coolant pump, a main cooler, a heating heat exchanger, a bypass which bypasses the heating heat exchanger, coolant ducts in the internal combustion engine, and a regulating device with an actuator which serves for the regulated distribution of a coolant as a function of at least one local coolant temperature. The invention is characterized in that, when the actuator is actuated in one direction, the regulating device —when it is in a first position, allows coolant flow through the internal combustion engine and the heating heat exchanger, and prevents coolant from flowing through the bypass and the main cooler; —when it is in a second position, additionally allows coolant to flow through the bypass; and —when it is in a third position, additionally allows coolant to flow through the main cooler.
Fluid flow control device and method
A fluid flow control device controls flow of coolant in a motor vehicle motor cooling system. The flow control device includes first and second coolant inlets and first and second coolant outlets. The flow control device is operable selectively to direct coolant flowing into the device to flow out from the flow device through one or both of the first and second outlets in dependence on a temperature of fluid flowing through the device.
Engine cooling system
An engine cooling system for cooling a cylinder head and a cylinder block separately may include a cylinder block having cylinders arranged from a front side to a rear side of an engine with a block water jacket formed therein around the cylinders, a cylinder head fastened to a top side of the cylinder block with a head water jacket formed therein from the front side to the rear side of the engine, a water pump mounted to a front side of the cylinder block for pumping coolant to a front of the block water jacket, and a coolant control valve arranged in a rear side of the cylinder block and the cylinder head to have a first end connected to a rear end of the block water jacket and a second end connected to a rear end of the head water jacket for having the coolant supplied thereto.
Vehicle exhaust heat recovery system and method
An exhaust heat recovery system may include a coolant circulation circuit arranged to connect an engine, an exhaust heat exchanger, a radiator, a water-cooled intercooler, and a sub-radiator, and controls each valve arranged on a passage which connects the engine, the exhaust heat exchanger, the radiator, the water-cooled intercooler, and the sub-radiator to the coolant circulation circuit according to the coolant temperature so as to control temperatures of coolant and intake air, thereby enabling the engine to be rapidly warmed up.

A selector guide valve in cooling system of an internal combustion engine is provided. The selector guide valve includes a first control drum independently rotatable and including an inlet receiving engine coolant from a pump and a plurality of coolant openings extending through the first control drum and a second control drum independently rotatable, circumferentially surrounding the first control drum, and including a plurality of coolant openings extending through the second control drum.
COOLING SYSTEM
A cooling system for an internal combustion engine is provided. The cooling system comprises: a cooling passage provided within an engine housing of the engine, the cooling passage configured to carry a bulk flow of coolant to cool the engine housing, wherein the bulk flow of coolant within the cooling passage is driven by convection or a pump; and one or more additional cooling passages provided within the engine housing, each configured to introduce a flow of coolant into the cooling passage; one or more additional cooling passage pumps configured to pump coolant within the additional cooling passages; wherein the engine housing comprises one or more high temperature regions, which are at a higher temperature than one or more low temperature regions of the engine housing; and wherein the additional cooling passages are configured to direct the introduced coolant towards the one or more high temperature regions.
