Provided is a centrifugal compressor, including: a movable member which is movable between a first position and a second position, the first position being a position at which an opening degree of an auxiliary flow passage arranged more on an outer diameter side than a main flow passage becomes a first opening degree, the second position being a position at which an opening degree of the auxiliary flow passage becomes a second opening degree smaller than the first opening degree; and a linear actuator configured to drive the movable member in a rotation axis direction of the impeller.
Turbo Compressor Assembly
A turbo compressor assembly, a vehicle including such a turbo compressor assembly, and a method for manufacturing such a turbo compressor assembly. The turbo compressor assembly includes an air intake channel, a compressor wheel, an insert unit and an actuator unit. The air intake channel is configured to draw air to the compressor wheel and the compressor wheel is configured to rotate for compressing the drawn air from the intake channel. The insert unit is arranged between the air intake channel and the compressor wheel and configured to control an airflow to the compressor wheel. The actuator unit is connected to the insert unit and configured to move the insert unit at least partially along the air intake channel.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ON-LINE RECALIBRATION OF CONTROL SYSTEMS
Methods and systems for controlling a system such as an engine having an airflow system. A model predictive control calculation is configured in an off-line mode, having a linear part and a non-linear part. In an on-line mode, the linear part of the MPC and/or a Hessian matrix used with the MPC is modified responsive to special modes or other operating changes or conditions. The online mode is configured to respond to changing modes or conditions without requiring recalculation of the MPC. Certain changes of conditions and modes are used to modify feedforward, while others modify responsiveness.

A turbine housing assembly can include a turbine housing that defines a rotational axis for a turbine wheel; and a cartridge receivable by the turbine housing, where the cartridge includes a nozzle wall component with an upper nozzle surface and a plate component with a lower nozzle surface, where the upper nozzle surface and the lower nozzle surface define a nozzle space, and vanes positioned in the nozzle space, where the vanes are pivotable between a closed vanes position of 0 percent open and a fully open vanes position of 100 percent open, and where, for a vanes position of at least 50 percent open and less than 75 percent open, an axial dimension of the nozzle space increases with respect to decreasing radius as measured from the rotational axis.
Compressor Having a Variable Diffuser Width
The disclosure relates to a compressor for an exhaust gas turbocharger. The compressor includes a compressor wheel, a compressor housing having a volute and a diffuser, and a device for modifying the diffuser width. The device for modifying the diffuser is configured to automatically alter the diffuser width as a function of one or more current operating parameters of the compressor.

ADJUSTABLE-TRIM CENTRIFUGAL COMPRESSOR FOR A TURBOCHARGER
A centrifugal compressor for a turbocharger includes an inlet-adjustment mechanism in an air inlet for the compressor, operable to move between an open position and a closed position in the air inlet. The inlet-adjustment mechanism includes a plurality of blades disposed about the air inlet and each pivotable about one end of the blade, the blades extending through a slot in the air inlet wall when the blades are in the closed position so as to form an orifice of reduced diameter relative to a nominal diameter of the inlet. Movement of the inlet-adjustment mechanism from the open position to the closed position is effective to shift the compressor's surge line to lower flow rates.
ADJUSTABLE-TRIM CENTRIFUGAL COMPRESSOR FOR A TURBOCHARGER
A centrifugal compressor for a turbocharger includes an inlet-adjustment mechanism in an air inlet for the compressor, operable to move between an open position and a closed position in the air inlet. The inlet-adjustment mechanism includes a plurality of first blades disposed about the air inlet and each pivotable about one end of the blade, and a plurality of second blades axially adjacent to the first blades and disposed about the air inlet and each pivotable about one end of the blade, the first and second blades extending through a slot in the air inlet wall when the blades are in the closed position so as to form an orifice of reduced diameter relative to a nominal diameter of the inlet. Movement of the inlet-adjustment mechanism from the open position to the closed position is effective to shift the compressor's surge line to lower flow rates.
Air-guiding section for an exhaust turbocharger and exhaust turbocharger
An exhaust turbocharger includes an air-guiding section. A spiral channel is formed downstream of a wheel chamber in the air-guiding section. Between the wheel chamber and the spiral channel, a diffuser channel is formed in the air-guiding section. Upstream of the wheel chamber, an inlet channel is formed in the air-guiding section for the inflow of fluid to be compressed. In the inlet channel, a cross-section-changing unit. The cross-section-changing unit comprises an operating element with at least two movable element parts to produce a baffle which can protrude, with the aid of an adjusting unit, into the inlet cross-section rotationally and/or in a translational manner or can be removed from the inlet cross-section. The two element parts are fixedly disposed at one element end jointly in the air-guiding section. A relative movement of the element parts can be brought about in particular in an opposing direction.

A centrifugal compressor for a turbocharger includes an inlet-adjustment mechanism in an air inlet for the compressor, operable to move between an open position and a closed position in the air inlet. The inlet-adjustment mechanism includes an axially elongated ring. In the open position, the radially outer surface of the ring is spaced from a tapering inner surface of the air inlet so that air can flow in an annular passage between the tapering surface and the ring. In the closed position, the ring abuts the tapering surface to close off the annular passage, whereby the effective inlet diameter is then defined by the inner diameter of the ring at its trailing edge. Movement of the inlet-adjustment mechanism from the open position to the closed position is effective to shift the compressor's surge line to lower flow rates.
