Disclosed are a hybrid electric vehicle capable of controlling starting of an engine in order to more efficiently realize heating and an engine control method therefor. The method of controlling an engine of a hybrid electric vehicle of the disclosure includes determining whether the engine is in a warmed-up state when a fully automatic temperature control system makes a heating request, making an engine startup request for heating to an engine management system configured to control the engine when the engine is in the warmed-up state, and selectively requesting the engine management system to perform cylinder deactivation (CDA) control on at least some of a plurality of cylinders of the engine depending on whether the engine is in an idling state.

Engine oil state control device

An engine oil state control device for controlling a fuel mixture ratio of a fuel mixed in an engine oil of an engine on which a predetermined combustion control is performed includes comprising a fuel mixture ratio acquisition part configured to acquire the fuel mixture ratio, and an oil temperature rise control part configured to perform an oil temperature rise control for increasing an evaporation rate of the fuel mixed in the engine oil if the fuel mixture ratio is equal to or greater than a first threshold.

The valve closing control is performed to close the waist gate valve of the turbocharger when the hydraulic fluid temperature is less than the temperature threshold. By closing the waist gate valve, the output torque is increased by increasing the amount of air taken into the engine that is idling operation, to suppress the engine stall that may occur when switching from the non-driving range to the driving range.

Systems and methods are provided for cooling an overheated engine using a combination of variable displacement engine (VDE) technology and direct injection technology. In one example, a method may include deactivating a subset of engine cylinders based on an engine temperature and directly injecting liquid fuel into the deactivated cylinders. In this way, an increased thermal conductivity of the liquid fuel compared to air decreases the engine temperature at a faster rate than when air-based engine cooling methods are used, thereby preventing overheating-related engine degradation.

METHOD FOR OPERATING AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE OF A DRIVETRAIN OF A VEHICLE DURING LAUNCHING

A method for operating an internal combustion engine of a drivetrain of a vehicle during launching. The vehicle has an exhaust-gas aftertreatment system for purifying exhaust gas of the engine. After a starting operation of the engine, the drivetrain is operated in a first operating state. In this first operating state, the engine is operated at idle, the exhaust-gas aftertreatment system is heated by the internal combustion engine, and a launch prohibition is active. The launch prohibition that is active in the first operating state prevents launching using the internal combustion engine. After a predefined state of the exhaust-gas aftertreatment system has been attained, the drivetrain is operated in a second operating state. The launch prohibition is inactive in the second operating state, such that launching using the engine is possible in the second operating state.

An electronic control unit (100), which serves as a control device for an internal combustion engine, executes feedback control for controlling the torque of an internal combustion engine (10) so as to coincide the rate of decrease in engine rotational speed with a target rate of decrease in the engine rotational speed. The electronic control unit (100) calculates a required torque that is a torque required to keep the engine rotational speed at a constant rotational speed, and increases a feedback gain in the feedback control as the calculated required torque increases.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR OPERATING AN ENGINE

A method for operating an engine is disclosed. The method includes activating an engine idling reduction mode. The engine is shut down when the engine idling mode is active and when a measure of at least one first parameter, associated with each of one or more components coupled to the engine, is in respective predetermined ranges. The one or more components comprise at least a transmission assembly. The at least one first parameter corresponds to a temperature of oil in the transmission assembly. The engine is started when the engine idling mode is active and when the measure of the at least one first parameter, associated with at least one of the one or more components, is less than predetermined threshold values.
