Intake assembly for an internal combustion engine

An intake assembly for an internal-combustion engine includes an intake duct for each cylinder, which communicates with an airbox that includes a filtering element. Each intake duct communicates with the airbox by a respective throttle body. A monitoring channel connects the intake ducts together and is configured for perturbing in a negligible way the dynamics of the fluid inside the intake ducts. Associated to said monitoring duct are sensors for monitoring the pressure inside the monitoring duct and designed to send signals indicating the value of pressure of the fluid taken in by the engine to an electronic control unit.

Systems and methods for a boosted internal combustion engine with an intake-side bypass line

Methods and systems are provided for a boosted internal combustion engine. In one example, a system may include an intake system for supplying charge air, a compressor arranged in the intake system, a first shut-off element arranged in the intake system upstream of an impeller of the compressor, a bypass line that branches off from the intake system upstream of the first shut-off element and that rejoins the intake system upstream of the impeller, a second shut-off element arranged in the bypass line, a compressed air line that opens into the bypass line downstream of the second shut-off element, and a third shut-off element arranged in the compressed air line. A map width of the compressor may be increased by providing airflow to the impeller via the bypass line during low mass flow conditions, and impeller acceleration may be expedited by providing compressed air via the compressed air line.

A flow measuring device includes a housing including a bypass passage and a flow sensing chip located in the bypass passage and including a sensing surface portion. A throttle portion that is a part of a flowing passage wall facing a sensing surface portion throttles a cross-sectional area of a bypass passage. A position where the throttle portion starts is referred to as a start point position, and a position of the throttle portion where a distance between a gravity center of the sensing surface portion and the throttle portion is shortest is referred to as an end point position. The start point position and the end point position define an imagination line, and the imagination line and the flowing direction define an angle that is in a range from 0 degrees to 20 degrees.
