Engine exhaust gas recirculation system

An exhaust gas recirculation system for a multi-cylinder engine is provided, which includes an exhaust manifold connected to a cylinder head, a catalyst connected to a downstream end of the exhaust manifold in terms of an exhaust gas flow, an EGR gas outlet provided downstream of the catalyst, an in-head EGR passage penetrating the cylinder head, and an EGR pipe extending from the EGR gas outlet and directly connected to an inlet of the in-head EGR passage to lead EGR gas thereto. The catalyst is disposed so that the exhaust gas flows therein from a first side to a second side in an engine cylinder lined-up direction. The EGR gas outlet is located on the second side with respect to the center of the engine in the cylinder lined-up direction, and the inlet of the in-head EGR passage is located in the first side with respect to the engine center.

Engine exhaust gas recirculation system

Device for mixing a stream of inlet gases and of recirculated exhaust gases comprising insulating means for the recirculated exhaust gases

The invention relates to a device for mixing a stream of supercharging air and a stream of recirculated exhaust gases. The device comprises a manifold allowing the stream of air and the stream of recirculated gases to be mixed, and allowing the mixture to be distributed in the cylinder head. The device also comprises means for conveying the recirculated exhaust gases in the manifold that allow the distributed injection of the recirculated exhaust gases into the stream of supercharging air. The device additionally comprises means for thermally insulating the conveying means in order to limit the cooling of the recirculated exhaust gases by the supercharging air.

Device for mixing a stream of inlet gases and of recirculated exhaust gases comprising insulating means for the recirculated exhaust gases

The invention relates to a device for mixing a stream of supercharging air and a stream of recirculated exhaust gases. The device comprises a manifold allowing the stream of air and the stream of recirculated gases to be mixed, and allowing the mixture to be distributed in the cylinder head. The device also comprises means for conveying the recirculated exhaust gases in the manifold that allow the distributed injection of the recirculated exhaust gases into the stream of supercharging air. The device additionally comprises means for thermally insulating the conveying means in order to limit the cooling of the recirculated exhaust gases by the supercharging air.

EGR SYSTEM

An EGR system is configured to allow a part of exhaust gas discharged from an engine to an exhaust passage to flow as an EGR gas to an intake passage through an EGR passage to return to the engine. The EGR system includes a heating film provided on an inner wall of at least one of the intake passage through which the EGR gas flows, i.e., an intake manifold, and the EGR passage, at least one pair of a positive electrode and a negative electrode to energize the heating film, a water temperature sensor and an intake temperature for detecting a warm-up state of the intake passage and the EGR passage, and an electronic control unit configured to control energization of the heating film from before start of EGR based on the detected warm-up state.

Mechanically attached thermal protection system

A mechanically attached thermal protection system (MATPS) includes an insulating tile having a top surface, a bottom surface, and a plurality of access holes that extend through the insulating tile from the top surface to the bottom surface. A plurality of brackets include a first end attached to the insulating tile and a second end including a mounting hole therethrough, the second end being positioned proximate the bottom surface of the insulating tile. A plurality of fasteners are positioned proximate the bottom surface of the insulating tile and at least partially positioned within one of the access holes so as to be accessible from the top surface of the insulating tile through one of the plurality of access holes. A MATPS including a plurality of air channels within the insulating tile and a method for sealing these air channels to those within an adjacent structure is also described herein.

Mechanically attached thermal protection system

A mechanically attached thermal protection system (MATPS) includes an insulating tile having a top surface, a bottom surface, and a plurality of access holes that extend through the insulating tile from the top surface to the bottom surface. A plurality of brackets include a first end attached to the insulating tile and a second end including a mounting hole therethrough, the second end being positioned proximate the bottom surface of the insulating tile. A plurality of fasteners are positioned proximate the bottom surface of the insulating tile and at least partially positioned within one of the access holes so as to be accessible from the top surface of the insulating tile through one of the plurality of access holes. A MATPS including a plurality of air channels within the insulating tile and a method for sealing these air channels to those within an adjacent structure is also described herein.

ENGINE EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION SYSTEM

An exhaust gas recirculation system for a multi-cylinder engine is provided, which includes an exhaust manifold connected to a cylinder head, a catalyst connected to a downstream end of the exhaust manifold in terms of an exhaust gas flow, an EGR gas outlet provided downstream of the catalyst, an in-head EGR passage penetrating the cylinder head, and an EGR pipe extending from the EGR gas outlet and directly connected to an inlet of the in-head EGR passage to lead EGR gas thereto. Cooling device for a flow sensor in an exhaust gas recirculation line

A cooling device includes a case delimiting an air circulation enclosure. The case comprises an air intake opening intended to be connected to an air inlet, and an air outlet opening intended to be connected to a heat engine. The cooling device includes an exhaust gas driving device housed at least partially in the air circulation enclosure. The exhaust gas driving device includes at least one exhaust gas flow sensor, each flow sensor being housed entirely in the air circulation enclosure of the case.

EGR system

An EGR system is configured to allow a part of exhaust gas discharged from an engine to an intake passage to flow as EGR gas to an intake passage through an EGR passage to return to the engine. In the EGR system, a heating film is provided on an inner wall or an outer wall of at least one of the intake passage through which the EGR gas is allowed to flow and the EGR passage. At least a pair of a positive electrode and a negative electrode is provided to energize the heating film.
