ROTOR BLADE OF A WIND TURBINE AND CORRESPONDING WIND TURBINE
The present invention relates to a rotor blade for a wind turbine, wherein the blade comprises a high lift root profile with flat-back trailing edge with a suction and a pressure side, a relative thickness in between 45% and 75%, preferably in between 48% and 70% of the chord length and a trailing edge thickness between 30% and 75%, preferably between 35% and 60% of the airfoil thickness, wherein the chord position of the maximum thickness, measured from a leading edge towards the trailing edge, is between 35% and 45%, preferably between 36% and 42% of the chord length. The present invention also relates to a corresponding wind turbine.
Rotor blade of a wind turbine and corresponding wind turbine
A rotor blade for a wind turbine is provided. The rotor blade includes a high lift root profile with flat-back trailing edge with a suction side and a pressure side, a relative airfoil thickness being between 45% and 75% or between 48% and 70% of a chord length. A trailing edge thickness is between 30% and 75% or between 35% and 60% of the relative airfoil thickness. The chord position of the maximum relative airfoil thickness, which is measured from a leading edge towards the trailing edge, is between 35% and 45% or between 36% and 42% of the chord length. Also provided is a wind turbine equipped with the rotor blade(s).
CONTROLLING DIFFUSION OF A WAKE GENERATED BY A WIND TURBINE
A method of controlling diffusion of a wake generated by a horizontal axis wind turbine is provided. The wind turbine comprises a rotor having a hub and a plurality of rotor blades 20 mounted to the hub. Each rotor blade 20 has a radially-outer, energy-extraction portion 32 and a radially-inner, ventilation portion 30, wherein the radially-inner ventilation portion 30 is shaped to, in use, extract reduced levels of kinetic energy from the wind compared to the radially-outer energy extraction portion 32 in order to ventilate a central area 34 of the wake. Diffusion of the wake is controlled by adjusting the tip speed ratio of the rotor in order to modify turbulent mixing within the wake.
Rotor Blade with Lightning Protection System, Wind Turbine and Assembly Method
The present invention relates to a rotor blade (1) for a wind turbine (2), the rotor blade (1) comprising a first down conductor (6), extending from a tip section (3) to a root section (4), wherein the first down conductor (6) is electrically coupled with a root block (7) of the root section (4), wherein the root block (7) is electrically coupled with a second down conductor (8). The second down connector (8) is electrically coupled with a current distribution plate (9), wherein the current distribution plate (9) is attached to a fixation device (10) for fixing the rotor blade (1) to a first bearing ring (11a) of a bearing (11) of a hub (12). The invention also relates to a wind turbine (2) and to a method for assembling a rotor blade (1) to a hub (12) of a wind turbine (2) and establishing a conductive path between a first down connector (6) of the rotor blade (1) and the hub (12).
WIND TURBINE ROTOR BLADE WITH ROOT, MAIN AND TIP SECTIONS
A wind turbine rotor blade having a root section includes a blade root, an outer end and a root section length, a main section having an inner end, an outer end and a main section length, a tip section having an inner end, a blade tip and a tip section length. The outer end of the root section and the inner end of the main section are configured to be connected to one another. The outer end of the main section and the inner end of the tip section each have a cross section shaped as an aerodynamic profile and are configured to be connected to one another. The outer end of the root section and the inner end of the main section have a circular cross section.
Rotating airfoil for sustaining lift and method for generating lift
Described herein is a rotor blade assembly (100) and a method for generating a lift in a fluid installation. The rotor blade assembly includes an arcuate rotor blade (102) that is configured to be rotated about its axis Y. One or more motion transmitting members (106, 114, 116) are provided that connect the arcuate rotor blade with at least one power generating member (104) for transmitting torque from the arcuate rotor blade to the at least one power generating member (104). The fluid incident on the arcuate rotor blade is caused to flow over a first leading edge L1 of a rotor blade towards a central rib R of the rotor blade (102). This fluid flow is then caused to flow along the central rib R of the rotor blade towards a stem section of the rotor blade from where the fluid exits, thereby causing rotation of the rotor blade.
