A system and method in at least one embodiment for separating fluids including liquids and gases into subcomponents by passing the fluid through a vortex chamber into an expansion chamber and then through at least a portion of a waveform pattern present between at least two rotors and/or disks. In further embodiments, a system and method is offered for harnessing fields created by a system having rotating rotors and/or disks having waveform patterns on at least one side to produce current within a plurality of coils. In at least one embodiment, the waveform patterns include a plurality of hyperbolic waveforms axially aligned around a horizontal center of the system.

Integrated power pump

A pump includes a housing, a process stream input, a process stream output, a power stream inlet, and a rotor. The rotor comprises an impeller, a shroud, and a turbine. The impeller comprises fluid motive elements positioned about a central axis of the rotor and extending outward to the shroud. The turbine comprises runners formed on an outwardly facing surface of the shroud of the rotor. The shroud extends radially about the fluid motive elements of the impeller. The rotor is rotatably supported within the housing. The runners cause the rotor to rotate when the power stream flows through a fluid path impinging the runners thereby transferring energy from the flow of the power stream received through a power stream inlet into rotational energy of the fluid motive elements of the impeller to propel the process stream from a process stream input out a process stream output.

A convector for cooling a microprocessor includes a volute-shaped housing, a stator, and a rotor, and can be mounted to a CPU board of a computing device for thermal coupling with the microprocessor. The volute-shaped housing of the convector encapsulates the stator and the rotor, and has a radially outer casing which defines a single exit port for guiding a fluid out of the housing. The stator has a plurality of plates configured to conduct heat. The rotor has a plurality of disks and a shaft extending longitudinally along the housing. Together, the housing, the stator, and the rotor define a spiral flow path through the volute-shaped housing, in both radially outward and longitudinal directions, to the single exit port. A motor may be provided to impart rotational motion to the rotor.

Non-sealed vacuum pump with supersonically rotatable bladeless gas impingement surface

A vacuum pump generally comprises a low pressure portion and a high pressure portion separated by a gas impermeable partition. Gas molecules exit the low pressure portion through an opening in the partition and passively impinge on a featureless rotatable surface in the high pressure portion. A drive rotates the rotatable surface with tangential velocity in the supersonic range at multiple times the most probable velocity of the impinging gas molecules. Impinging gas molecules are ejected outwardly from the periphery of the rotatable surface generating a substantial net outward flow of gas and reducing the pressure in the low pressure portion. The vacuum pump is effective to reduce the pressure in the low pressure portion to a target minimum pressure without using seals to prevent gas molecules from leaking back to the low pressure portion and without using blades or vanes to actively impact the gas molecules.

Viscous flow fan impellers having wave blades

An impeller for a viscous flow fan includes a hub having a longitudinal axis, and a plurality of ring-shaped wave blades disposed about and coupled to a perimeter of the hub, the wave blades disposed in a parallel and spaced apart from one another along the longitudinal axis by a blade gap. Each wave blade includes a center coincident with the longitudinal axis, an inner perimeter, an outer perimeter, and a wave-like cross-section about the perimeter of the hub in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, wherein at least a portion of the inner perimeter of at least one of the wave blades is spaced from the perimeter of the hub to form an air intake gap.

A convector includes a rotor having a shaft extending along an axis of rotation, and a plurality of discs offset from one another along the axis of rotation and mechanically coupled to and rotatable with the shaft. The convector also includes a stator having a plurality of plates offset from one another along the axis of the shaft. Each plate of the plurality of plates defines a through-hole configured to receive the shaft and an opening configured to receive a corresponding disc of the plurality of discs. Rotation of the shaft causes each disc to rotate at least partially within the opening defined by the corresponding plate, and relative to the corresponding plate.
