System for priming a pool pump
A system for priming a pool pump includes piping that provides fluid communication to or from the pool pump. A valve is in fluid communication with the piping, and the valve has an open position that permits fluid flow through the valve and a shut position that prevents fluid flow through the valve. A priming pump is in fluid communication with the piping. The priming pump includes a suction and a discharge, and the suction of the priming pump connects to the piping upstream from the valve. A sensor generates a control signal reflective of time, fluid flow downstream from the priming pump, and/or fluid flow downstream from the pool pump. A controller receives the control signal, and when the control signal satisfies a predetermined criterion, the controller deenergizes the priming pump, repositions the valve to the open position, and/or energizes the pool pump.
SYSTEM FOR PRIMING A POOL PUMP
A system for priming a pool pump includes piping that provides fluid communication to or from the pool pump. SMART VACUUM PRIMING SYSTEM
Systems and methods described herein provide a smart vacuum priming system for centrifugal pumps. The vacuum priming system includes a vacuum pump, a suction assembly, an electromagnetic clutch assembly, and a pressure sensor. The suction assembly provides fluid communication between the vacuum pump and a float box of the centrifugal pump. The electromagnetic clutch assembly selectively engages the vacuum pump, such that a drive shaft of the centrifugal pump also powers the vacuum pump when the clutch is on. The pressure sensor indicates when the centrifugal pump is in a primed state based on a discharge pressure of the centrifugal pump. When the pressure sensor indicates the main pump is in the primed state, the electromagnetic clutch decouples the vacuum pump from the drive shaft. When the pressure sensor indicates the main pump is not in the primed state, the electromagnetic clutch couples the vacuum pump to the drive shaft.
FLOAT BOX WITH VALVE
A float box for priming a fluid pump is provided. The float box comprises a floater inside a float chamber, and an air valve assembly that is operated by the floater. The air valve assembly comprises a valve holder that bounds a valve chamber and an insert opening towards the valve chamber, and a valve body that is inserted in the valve chamber. The valve body comprises a valve cover that closes the insert opening, and a seal holder inside the valve chamber. The seal holder has a seal chamber with an access opening where the seal chamber debouches spaced apart from the valve cover. The air valve assembly comprises a seal element with a seal channel inside the seal chamber, and a valve head that is connected with the floater to close off and release the seal channel.
