Spiral bevel gear set for ram air turbine

A ram air turbine (RAT) assembly includes a gearbox that supports a gear set with a ring gear that drives a pinion gear. The gear set provides for the transmission of power from the turbine to a generator, pump or other power conversion device. A turbine shaft supports the ring gear and a pinion shaft that rotates about an axis transverse to the turbine shaft supports the pinion gear. A ratio between a face width and a diametrical pitch of the gear set is within a desired ratio that provides sufficient space for supporting bearing assemblies while providing for operation within the physical constraints and desired performance requirements of the RAT.

This invention discloses a method and a device for the capture of wave power, exploiting the maximum potential energy of each wave, based on obtaining the maximum imbalance possible between the Thrust Force and the Weight acting upon the capture elements on the passage of each wave, slowing and releasing them both at their high points and at their low points by means of the use of blocking systems, maximizing the submerged and emerged volumes of the next movement, likewise the travel during which the capture elements are accelerated due to the exploitation of their kinetic energy and their release in the transmission of efforts at the moments when the points of equilibrium between the rising and falling maximums are reached, thus generating an increase in the potential energy captured.

UNIVERSAL PROPELLER, OPERATING METHOD AND FAVOURED USE

A novel universal propeller has a gearwheel arranged on each rotor blade that is directly operatively connected to a reference gearwheel of a timing gear. The timing gear is operatively connected to a hub gear. The hub gear senses and processes an angular velocity ω.sub.n of a rotation of the hub. The reference gearwheel and the gearwheels of the rotor blades of the timing gear are configured that the ratio of an angular velocity ω.sub.r of the reference gearwheel to the angular velocity ω.sub.n of the rotational movement of the hub is as follows: ω.sub.r/ω.sub.n=1±(½)*(S.sub.rot/S.sub.r), where S.sub.rot is a size of the gearwheels and S.sub.r is a size of the reference gearwheel. The present invention is particularly suitable for use in a wind power installation, hydropower installation or an engine of a ship or an aircraft.

Methods and water reservoir systems for generating, accumulating, storing, and releasing electrical energy

A water reservoir system for generating, accumulating, storing, and releasing electrical energy comprises a reservoir wall built in a shallow body of water such as a sea or an ocean with a height exceeding the outside water level by about 10-25 m, thereby defining an interior of the water reservoir. Excess electrical energy from other renewable sources of electricity such as wind, solar power, or supplied by a local power grid is used to operate water pumps to fill the interior of the water reservoir with water during times of peak supply of electricity. Water is drained from the water reservoir to the outside body of water and generates electrical energy by flowing over a plurality of water turbines, thereby generating electricity and supplementing electrical power for the local power grid during times of high demand. Additional interior sources of renewable energy may be used to supplement external sources of electrical power in operating the system of the invention.

A kinetic fluid energy conversion system comprises one or more hubs which rotate about a central hub carrier, each including one or more independently controlled articulating energy conversion plates (“ECP”). An articulation control system rotates each ECP independently of all others to control its orientation with respect to the fluid flow direction between an orientation of 90° perpendicular to the fluid flow, while traveling in the direction of the flow and 0° minimal drag parallel position to the flow, while traveling in the direction against the flow or blocked from it. Each hub can be operably coupled to another hub to form one or more counter-rotating hub and ECP assemblies whereby the mechanical energy is transferred through the hubs, to one or more clutch/gearbox/generator/pump assemblies thereby permitting such assemblies to be land-based when the system is air-powered, and above or near the surface, when the system is water-powered.
