A hydraulic gerotor pump for an automatic transmission may comprise a housing and a gear set rotatably disposed within the housing. The gear set may comprise an inner gear and an outer gear having radially opposed intermeshing teeth that together define a plurality of circumferentially disposed variable volume pumping chambers therebetween. The housing may be made of a first aluminum-based material, and the inner gear and the outer gear of the gear set may be made of a second aluminum-based material. The linear coefficient of thermal expansion of the first aluminum-based material may be substantially the same as that of the second aluminum-based material.

In a scroll fluid machine, a thinned section (26) is provided in correspondence with a position at which the wrap height of a spiral wrap (15B, 16B) changes due to a step part. The thinned section (26) is provided on the front-side surface or the rear-side surface of a tooth tip section of at least one of the spiral wraps (15B, 16B) of at least one of partner scrolls (15, 16) respectively engaging with scrolls (15, 16). The thinned section (26) is provided in the direction in which the wrap thickness decreases so as to extend over at least a reduced-machining-accuracy area (27), which is an area where the machining becomes discontinuous due to at least a change in the wrap height. Thus, a contact failure between the spiral wraps (15B, 16B) is avoided in the area where the machining accuracy relatively decreases as a result of increasing the machining speed, thereby achieving both improved productivity and maintained performance.

This “Imprint” consists of concentric circles of metal removed in a machining process resulting in the compartments of the functional areas within the crown of the piston connected by either the height and or cross drillings within the Imprint. The functional result is to create low and high pressure zones within the crown of the piston as it proceeds upward on the compression stroke facilitating the creation of an active moving rotational swirl in the outer 25% on the top surface area of the piston circumference. The active swirl pattern results in ultimate homogenization of the air fuel mixture leaving no area of the combustion chamber with weak or separated air and fuel molecules resulting in enhanced power and complete combustion.

A housing for a motor or compressor has an elongate crankcase with two end surfaces. At least one cylinder chamber is provided in which a piston is caused to perform a movement by rotation of the crankshaft. The internal diameter of the crankcase narrows monotonously from the first end surface to the second end surface. A crankcase shaped in this way can be manufactured particularly easily by virtue of the casting being performed around a shaping mandrel. A shaping mandrel of this type must likewise narrow monotonously in order that, after the casting has been performed around it, the shaping mandrel can be pulled out of the housing at a first end. By way of the shaping of the crankcase, it is possible for the housing to be of unipartite and at the same time very compact construction.
