Impulse turbine for use in bi-directional flows

A turbine arrangement for a bi-directional reversing flow is provided. The turbine arrangement may include a rotor rotatably mounted to rotate about an axis of the turbine arrangement, and the rotor may have a plurality of rotor blades disposed circumferentially thereabout. A first set of guide vanes may be circumferentially disposed about the axis for directing the bi-directional reversing flow to and from the rotor blades via a first flow passaged defined by a first duct. A second set of guide vanes may be axially spaced from the first set of guide vanes and circumferentially disposed about the axis for directing the bi-directional reversing flow to and from the rotor blades via a second flow passage defined by a second duct. The guide vanes may be disposed at a greater radius than the rotor blades, such that the guide vanes are radially offset from the rotor blades.

Airfoil with body and cover panel

An airfoil includes a body that has rib nodes that each define a node cavity therein. A cover panel is carried on the body over the rib nodes. The cover panel includes tabs that project into the node cavities. Plugs are disposed in the node cavities and pinch the tabs against the node cavities to lock the cover panel on the body.

Dual body variable duty performance optimizing pump unit

A dual pump unit having a pair of pumps that provide parallel hydraulic paths, and are configured to operate concurrently in opposite rotational directions. The dual pump unit has a sealed casing which includes a suction flange, two volutes in hydraulically parallel configuration, and a discharge flange. The pair of pumps are located within a respective volute of the casing and, in an example, are radially inline and horizontally inline. The casing may include a flattened bottom. Each pump may include a touchscreen for configuration of the respective pump. The pumps are controllable to circulate a circulating medium to collectively provide output to source a load.

An airfoil includes a metal body that has holes, a cover panel carried on the metal body, and push fasteners that extend through the cover panel and into the holes to lock the cover panel on the metal body. Each of the push fasteners includes flexible barbs that engage sides of the holes to resist retraction of the fasteners from the holes. The heads of the push fastener are embedded in recesses in the cover panel.

GUIDE VANES FOR FULLY REVERSIBLE TURBOMACHINERY

A guide vane optimized for fully reversible turbomachinery where the guide vane is substantially planar, and has a profiled first edge and an opposite symmetrical second edge. The profiled first edge may include a first arc and a second arc, where the first and second arc differ from one another in their shape characteristics (e.g., arc length, arc height, curvature, radius, etc.). The second edge may be symmetrically rounded. When the guide vane is disposed downstream from the impeller, the profiled first edge serves as a leading edge of the guide vane, and is configured to efficiently convert rotational flow coming from the impeller into axial flow. When the guide vane is disposed upstream from the impeller, the profiled first edge serves as a trailing edge of the guide vane, and is configured to maintain the axial flow as the flow enters the impeller.

Airfoil with body and cover panel

An airfoil a metal body, a cover panel carried on the metal body, and push fasteners extending through the cover panel and locking the cover panel on the metal body.

Ducted fan with fan casing defining an over-rotor cavity

A ducted fan is provided including a fan casing surrounding a plurality of fan blades mounted to a rotating drive shaft. The plurality of blades define a tip stagger angle of greater than 68 degrees and the fan casing defines an annular recess defined by an inner wall of the fan casing, the annular recess extending about the circumferential direction proximate a blade tip of each of the plurality of blades. The annular recess may define an average recess depth greater than 10 percent of the tip chord length. The annular recess may also define a length ratio equal to a recess length over the tip axial chord length that is greater than 1.5.
