METHOD FOR CONTROLLING A COMBUSTION DEVICE
A method for controlling a combustion process in a gas turbine wherein a combustion chamber, a control device storing a calculation model of the combustion process, and an exhaust air measurement device are used. A permissible limit value for nitrogen oxides and for carbon monoxide as pollutants is set. The actual value of at least one of the two pollutants is measured continuously in the exhaust air. When a signal to reduce the power of the gas turbine to a lowest possible value is given, then a minimum fuel supply at which the limit values are complied with is calculated. The fuel supply is then reduced either until the calculated minimum fuel supply is reached or until the continuously measured proportion of the pollutant reaches the permissible limit value.

The processing system can be configured to: automatically transition an operating condition of the system through a plurality of operating states; determine an efficiency of the system at each of a plurality of the operating states; for each of the plurality of operating states: select a future operating state of the system based on the determined efficiency of the current operating state.
System and method for aircraft propeller governing
Methods and systems for governing an aircraft propeller of an engine are described. The method comprises obtaining a fluid flow command for speed control of the propeller, determining pulse parameters of a pulse width modulated valve control signal for actuating a two-position solenoid valve in accordance with the fluid flow command based on an average fluid flow through the solenoid valve and an opening and closing time of the solenoid valve, generating the valve control signal with the pulse parameters as determined, and transmitting the valve control signal to the solenoid valve for actuating the solenoid valve, thereby controlling the speed of the propeller.
Gas turbine operation
A aircraft gas turbine engine and operation method, the engine including: a staged combustion system having pilot and main fuel injectors, and operates in a pilot-only range wherein fuel delivers to pilot fuel injectors, and a pilot-and-main operation range wherein fuel is delivered to at least the main fuel injectors. The engine further includes a fuel delivery regulator to pilot and main fuel injectors, which receives fuel from a first and second source containing fuels each with different characteristics. The staged combustion system switches between pilot-only and pilot-and-main range operation when in steady cruise mode, the mode defining a boundary between first and second engine cruise operation range. The fuel delivery regulator delivers fuel to pilot fuel injectors during at least part of the first engine cruise operation with different fuel characteristics from fuel delivered to one or both pilot and main fuel injectors the second engine cruise operation range.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR VARIABLE GEOMETRY MECHANISM CONFIGURATION
A system and a method for configuring at least one variable geometry mechanism (VGM) of an aircraft engine are provided. Pass-off testing data for the aircraft engine is obtained, the pass-off testing data indicative of an actual value of at least one operating parameter of the aircraft engine. Based on the pass-off testing data, at least one trim value to be used to adjust a setting of the at least one VGM to bring the actual value of the at least one operating parameter towards a target value is determined, a running line of the aircraft engine being substantially constant when the actual value of the at least one operating parameter is at the target value. The setting of the at least one VGM is adjusted, during pass-off testing of the aircraft engine, using the at least one trim value.
DETECTING A FUEL LEAK IN AN ENGINE FUEL SYSTEM
An assembly is provided for an engine. This engine assembly includes a fuel system, a sensor and a processing system. The fuel system includes a fuel source, an engine component and a fuel circuit configured to direct fuel from the fuel source to the engine component. The sensor is configured to provide sensor data indicative of a measured parameter of the fuel directed through the fuel circuit from the fuel source to the engine component. The processing system is configured to identify a fuel leak in the fuel system based on the sensor data. The fuel leak is identified when a measured value corresponding to the measured parameter of the fuel is less than an expected value corresponding to an expected parameter for the fuel directed through the fuel circuit from the fuel source to the engine component.

Devices, systems and methods for leak detection are provided herein. Also provided are devices, systems and methods for monitoring and/or measuring fluid usage. In some aspects, a system comprising a sensor, a processing system, and a platform are provided. In some aspects, the sensor may be coupled to a spinning device. The sensor can be configured to detect fluid data, which can comprise, for example, displacement data of liquid and/or movement data associated with the liquid in a container and/or flow data associated with a flow of fluid in a conduit. The processing system can be coupled with the sensor and configured to communicate the fluid data. The platform can comprise an application communicatively coupled to one or more databases storing evaluation data (e.g., known pattern data) and configured to receive the fluid data and determine if there is a leak.
Gas turbine engine system with health monitoring of fuel pump condition
A gas turbine engine propulsion system includes a gas turbine engine, a fuel storage tank and a pump unit. The gas turbine engine provides propulsive forces to move a vehicle. The fuel storage tank stores a fuel that can be used to power the gas turbine engine. The pump unit displaces a fuel flow from the fuel storage tank and delivers the fuel flow to the gas turbine engine.
ULTRASONIC FUEL FLOW MEASURING SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A fuel flow measuring system includes an ultrasonic fuel flow sensor. The fuel flow sensor includes a first transducer and a second transducer. The first transducer is excited at multiple different excitation frequencies and a voltage, an electric current, and a phase difference between the voltage and the electric current is sensed at the first transducer during excitation. Data points are generated based on the sensed readings and a model is fit to the data points to determine a complex impedance spectrum. The complex impedance spectrum indicates a range of excitation frequencies within a range of a peak resonance frequency of the first transducer. One or more characteristics of excitation signals directed to the second transducer are set based on the determined complex impedance spectrum. In this manner, the signal to noise ratio of ultrasonic signals emitted by the second transducer and received by the first transducer can be maximized.
