Pressure in a pressure chamber urges the sleeve to a closed position at which it blocks flow from the inlet port to the outlet port. A line pressure conduit communicates the fluid chamber into the pressure chamber. Pressurized air is supplied to the pressure chamber through a selectively closed valve. The selectively closed valve is opened to allow the flow of high pressure air from a pressure source into the pressure chamber to move the sleeve to a closed position. A bleed air system for a gas turbine engine is also disclosed.

For an aero-engine actuator fault, by adopting an undesired oscillation problem produced by an active fault tolerant control method based on a virtual actuator, in order to solve the shortage of the existing control method, a bumpless transfer active fault tolerant control design method for the aero-engine actuator fault is provided, which can guarantee that a control system of the reconfigured aero-engine not only has the same state and output as an original fault-free system without changing the structure and parameters of a controller, to achieve a desired control objective, and that a reconfigured system has a smooth transient state, that is, output parameters such as rotational speed, temperature and pressure do not produce the undesired transient characteristics such as overshoot or oscillation.

A number of times that an abnormal switching occurred for the pumps within a window of consecutive flights is determined by the computer system when the abnormal switching is identified from the flight information. A set of actions is performed by the computer system when the abnormal switching occurred a number of times for the pumps within the window of consecutive flights that exceeds a set of thresholds for the abnormal switching that is considered healthy for the pumps.

A valve monitoring apparatus has a system to determine a state of a valve. The system determines a fluid flow first pressure at a first location within a gas turbine engine, and a second pressure of a compressed fluid at a second location within the engine when the valve is in the first position; and compares the first and second pressures to determine the valve state. The system is arranged to command the valve to move from the first position towards a second position; determine the second pressure of the compressed fluid at the second location; compare the pressure at the second location when the valve is in the first position to the pressure at the second location when the valve has been commanded to move towards the second position; and, determine whether the valve has moved from the first position towards the second position when commanded to do so.

On-board estimator engine sensor fault accommodation in engine control

An engine control system includes an electronic hardware engine controller in signal communication with an actuator and an engine sensor. The actuator operates at a plurality of different positions to control operation of an engine. The engine sensor measures an engine operating parameter. The engine controller generates a synthesized engine operating parameter, and adjusts the position of the actuator based on the synthesized engine operating parameter in response to detecting a faulty engine sensor.
