The vacuum pump comprises: a rotor rotatably mounted within a stator. The rotor comprises a plurality of angled blades arranged along a helical path from an inlet to an outlet. The stator comprises a plurality of perforated elements arranged to intersect the helical path, the perforations allowing gas molecules travelling along the helical path to pass through the perforated elements. The rotor mounted on a magnetically levitated bearing; and the perforated elements located towards an inlet of the vacuum pump comprise a transparency of more than 40% and the perforated elements located towards an outlet of the vacuum pump comprise a transparency of more than 30%.

The journal support pins include a titanium body and an outer surface outside of the titanium body that has a surface hardness that is harder than the titanium body. The outer surface is provided by a steel sleeve. Oil supply holes extend from a central bore in the titanium body through the steel sleeve. At least one pin extends through the steel sleeve to secure the steel sleeve to the titanium body.

Disclosed is an austenitic stainless steel alloy that includes or consists of, by weight, about 20.0% to about 21.5% chromium, about 8.5% to about 10.0% nickel, about 4.0% to about 5.0% manganese, about 0.5% to about 2.0% silicon, about 0.4% to about 0.5% carbon, about 0.2% to about 0.3% nitrogen, and a balance of iron with inevitable/unavoidable impurities. The elements niobium, tungsten, and molybdenum are excluded beyond impurity levels. Turbocharger turbine housings made of the stainless steel alloy, and methods of making the same, are also disclosed. The stainless steel alloy is suitable for use in turbocharger turbine applications for temperatures up to about 1020° C.

[Solving Means] A method for manufacturing a fuel nozzle for a gas turbine combustor, the method comprising: (a) fitting a fuel nozzle having an internal through hole into a through hole or a recess provided in a base plate; (b) bonding, by a fusion joint or a brazing joint, the fuel nozzle to the base plate in an interface therebetween on a surface of the base plate; and (c) following the step of (b), subjecting the fuel nozzle and the base plate to a pressure bonding process to thereby pressure bond the fuel nozzle and the base plate in the interface therebetween.
