POLYMERIC SLEEVE FOR SELF SEALING FASTENER IN BUILDING PANEL, SHEATHING PANEL CONTAINING THE SAME AND METHOD OF USING THE SAME
A fastener sleeve is described, including a collating sleeve body and a plurality of cylindrical sheaths in the collating sleeve body, each cylindrical sheath engageable with a fastener. A sheathing panel is also described, including at least one barrier overlay secured to a panel, a plurality of fasteners engaged in the barrier overlay and the panel, a plurality of sealing cylindrical sheaths surrounding a portion of each fastener and positioned between the fastener and the barrier overlay, such that the sheathing panel has at least one of the following properties: a water vapor transmission rate of at least 7.0 grams/m.sup.2/24 hours at 73° F. and 50% relative humidity (RH), a water vapor permeance of at least 1.3 perms at 73° F. and 50% RH, or an air infiltration rate of less than 0.2 L/s-m.sup.2 at 75 pascals. A method of engaging the fasteners with the panel is also provided.
Fastener tip coating
An ease of drive coating for a fastener is formulated from a resin having at least two different friction reducing components, such as silicone and graphite. A fastener and fastener strip include a resin formulation with at last two different friction reducing components.
WATERPROOF NAIL AND SCREW WITH ENLARGED HEAD AND PROTECTIVE GASKET
An integral nail/disk structure that eliminates the need of having any exposed nails associated with a shingled roof having a color matching body member integrally formed with a roofing nail. Another embodiment including a fastener such as a nail or screw having an enlarged head and an associated gasket member for fastening sheet metal to a roof structure. The gasket member has a sealant on both of its top and bottom surfaces so as to adhere both to the underside of the enlarged head portion of the nail or screw, and to the sheet metal to create a waterproof seal. Still another embodiment includes an enlarged cap member associated with a gasket member attached to its underside portion wherein the cap/gasket member can be attached over a fastener hole in a roof, or over a faulty roofing nail or screw in lieu of caulking techniques usually used to cure leaks where the faulty fastener attaches sheet metal to a roofing structure.
Method and apparatus for applying a corrosion-resistant coating to fasteners
A method of applying a corrosion-resistant coating to a fastener that includes preheating an area of the fastener to be coated to elevate a temperature of the area and spraying the preheated area of the fastener with a molten or semi-molten metal. In one embodiment, a corrosion-resistant coating applicator includes a support structure, a rotatable slotted fastener conveyer supported by the support structure, a feeder configured to feed fasteners to the rotatable slotted fastener conveyer, a fastener aligner configured to make head portions of the fasteners aligned with each other, a heater configured to heat head portions of the fasteners as the fasteners are being conveyed by the slotted fastener conveyer, and a sprayer configured to apply a corrosion-resistant coating to the heated head portions of the fasteners being conveyed by the slotted fastener conveyer. The present disclosure also provides corrosion-resistant coated fasteners made using the coating methods and/or coating apparatus.
SELF-SEALING FASTENER
A self-sealing fastener for securing a building component to a framing member, such as securing a sheathing layer over which is disposed a barrier layer to a framing member, includes a fastener with a shank and a head, and a rubberized coating surrounding at least a portion of the shank of the fastener. The rubberized coating is designed to peel back from the shank and accumulate at least around the shank and/or head upon insertion into the wall assembly, thereby sealing off an entry of the self-sealing fastener into the barrier layer and sheathing layer.
Staple and staple gun therefor
A staple is provided with two legs each including a forward projection; and a connection member having two ends formed with tops of the legs respectively. In another embodiment, each leg further has a rearward projection. In still another embodiment, the staple is shaped as an L. In yet another embodiment, the staple is shaped as a T.
ADHESIVE FILM INCLUDING A (METH)ACRYLATE MATRIX INCLUDING A CURABLE EPOXY/THIOL RESIN COMPOSITION, TAPE, AND METHOD
A thermally curable adhesive film, a tape, and a method of making the tape, wherein the film includes: a crosslinked (meth)acrylate matrix; and a thermally curable, one-part epoxy/thiol resin composition incorporated within the crosslinked (meth)acrylate matrix; wherein the thermally curable, one-part epoxy/thiol resin composition comprises: an epoxy resin component comprising an epoxy resin having at least two epoxide groups per molecule; a thiol component comprising a polythiol compound having at least two thiol groups; a nitrogen-containing catalyst for the epoxy resin; and an organic acid.
