Threaded fastener

Various embodiments of a fastener driveable into a substrate are provided. The fastener includes a head, a shank, and a helical thread formation. Portions of the shank and helical thread formations may be tapered. The outer diameter of the shank may decrease in a direction away from the head. An outer diameter of the thread formation may increase in a direction away from the head. The head may include a plurality of extending ribs. The helical thread formation may be formed with a plurality of grooves that are respectively each partially defined by a straight cutting edge. These improvements reduce torsional failure of the fastener from over tightening.

A wall magnet anchor system is used to install magnetic anchors in wall material that can be used to magnetically hold an object to the wall, thereby avoiding the need to a conventional hook that protrudes from the surface of the wall. The anchor can include a helical thread to hold the anchor in the wall. An installation tool includes a cutting features at one end for cutting a hole in a wall to receive an anchor, and an installation feature that engages the anchor and allows a user to drive the anchor, through rotation, into the hole cut by the cutting features.

Screw with axially compressible thread
20220389950 · 2022-12-08 ·

A screw including a shank having a tip, a rear end, which is located opposite the tip, and a longitudinal axis, which extends through the tip and through the rear end, and a screw thread helix, which is arranged on the shank, wherein the screw thread helix has a screw thread ridge for engaging into an internal screw thread groove, wherein the shank has a rearwardly facing abutment structure, which extends alongside the screw thread helix, for axial abutment of the screw thread helix. The pitch of the screw thread ridge increases as the axial distance of the screw thread ridge from the tip increases, and the screw thread helix has axial tipward play with respect to the rearwardly facing abutment structure, so as to permit axial compression of the screw thread helix.

VISUAL INDICATOR FOR CORRECT TORSION OF A ROCK BOLT

A rotation indication device for a rock bolt including a central rod with a threaded trailing portion. The rotation indication device includes a blind nut having a threaded central recess for engaging the threaded trailing portion and a visual indication means provided at a bottom portion of the central recess and configured such that upon movement of the threaded trailing portion of the central rod into the bottom portion of the central recess, the central rod forces at least a portion of the visual indication means to move through a passage in the blind nut between the bottom portion of the central recess and the outside of the blind nut.

Screw with axial thread play

A screw including a shank having a tip, a rear end, which is located opposite the tip, and a longitudinal axis, which extends through the tip and through the rear end, and a screw thread helix, which is arranged on the shank, wherein the screw thread helix has a screw thread ridge for engaging into an internal screw thread groove. The screw thread helix has axial tipward play with respect to the shank, wherein the tipward play increases as the axial distance of the screw thread helix from the tip increases.

Screw-type fastener for cement board

A cement board screw a high thread that begins on the tapered end, extends onto the shank and terminates at a second axial location along the shank. The high thread defines a high peripheral edge, where a leading flank and a trailing flank meet at the high peripheral edge and together define a high thread angle that is between about thirty degrees and about fifty-five degrees. A low thread begins on the tapered end, extends onto the shank and terminates substantially at a first axial location along the shank such that an axial length of the low thread is less than an axial length of the high thread. The low thread includes a leading flank and a trailing flank that meet at a low peripheral edge and together define a low thread angle that is between about fifty degrees and about seventy degrees.

CONCRETE FASTENER INSTALLATION USING LOW VISCOSITY ADHESIVE
20230101501 · 2023-03-30 · ·

A method for installing fastener in a base material. The fastener has a shank having a first end and a second end defining a length, a head provided at the second end, and a thread provided on the shank which includes a leading edge and a trailing edge adapted remove portions of the base material when inserted into the base material. The method includes forming a hole having a diameter which is a nominal shank diameter of the fastener to be installed in the base material. The hole is then filled with an adhesive having a viscosity of 350 cP or less. Finally, the fastener is rotated into the hole such that the adhesive is forced into portions of the base material adjacent to the shank and thread when the thread is fully inserted into the hole.

Separate screw thread helix fixed by means of claws

A screw including a shank, at least one screw thread, which is arranged on the shank, winds around the shank and protrudes from the shank, and a separate helix element, which is arranged non-monolithically on the shank, wherein the separate helix element winds around the shank, protrudes from the shank, and constitutes at least a section of the at least one screw thread. The screw further includes at least one first claw, which projects from the shank, and which has both radial and axial overlap with the separate helix element, wherein the shank and the at least one first claw are monolithic with respect to one another.
