THREADED TAPERED FASTENER FOR SECURING A POWER TRANSMISSION DEVICE TO A SHAFT
A working machine assembly has a rotatable shaft and a power transmission device having a central hub with a bore there through configured to receive the rotatable shaft. The shaft and power transmission device are connected with a securing mechanism that includes a key inserted in a keyway formed in an inner surface of the central hub and a key seat formed along a portion of the shaft wherein the key prevents relative movement between the rotatable shaft and the attached power transmission device. The securing mechanism has a pin having a flat tapered surface. The pin is received in a cross hole in the hub and interacts with the key such that the tapered surface abuts the key. The pin has a threaded end. A nut is received on the threaded end and used to draw the tapered surface of the pin against the key in a wedging action.
COATED DRIVER AND METHOD OF FORMING
A driver for coupling a driving device and a driven device includes a core defining a plurality of corner chamfers and a casing formed on and encasing the core. The casing has a contoured perimeter surface and a variable casing thickness, and is compressible during an interference fit installation to a coupling socket to provide a non-lubricated coupling which has zero backlash and substantially no running noise. The core is made of a metal-based material and includes a shaft bore for receiving an input shaft. In an illustrative example, the driver core is made of a stainless steel core and the casing is made of a high wear thermoset urethane material. The metal core can be recycled from the coated driver by removal of the polymeric casing, then recoated with a new casing to form a new coated driver including the recycled metal core.
COMPOSITE/METAL JOINTS
A composite/metal joint includes a composite member, a metallic member, a cylindrical liner, and a fastener. The composite member has a first aperture. The metallic member is disposed adjacent to the composite member and has a second aperture coaxially aligned with the first aperture. The cylindrical liner extends longitudinally from a first end to a second end. The cylindrical liner has a cylindrical outer liner surface and a longitudinally extending third aperture coaxial with the first and second apertures and defined by an inner liner surface. The cylindrical liner is disposed in the first and second apertures with the outer liner surface adjacent to aperture walls of the first and second apertures. The cylindrical liner has a plurality of grooves intersecting the outer liner surface. The fastener is disposed through the third aperture of the cylindrical liner and is configured to attach the metallic member to the composite member. An outer surface of the fastener is in direct contact with the inner liner surface.
CORDLESS ELECTRICALLY-POWERED CONCRETE SCREED
A power unit is configured for use as part of a concrete screed and includes a frame and a powered drive. The frame includes a drive housing. The powered drive is operably supported by the drive housing and is configured to rotate a rotatable concrete forming drum. The powered drive includes an electric motor and a battery operably coupled to the electric motor and configured to power the electric motor. The powered drive includes a drive shaft drivingly connectable relative to the drum, with rotation of the drive shaft causing corresponding rotation of the drum.
STEERING WHEEL CONNECTOR FOR AUTOMOTIVE SIMULATOR
A steering wheel adapter system for an automotive simulator includes a first adapter element formed in a distal end of the steering wheel and a second adapter element formed in a proximal end of a steering axle of the automotive simulator. The first adapter element comprises a first electrical contact surface and the second adapter element comprises a second electrical contact surface. The first and second adapter elements are configured to slide against each other along a plane that is substantially perpendicular to the steering axle, until a coupling position has been reached wherein a central axis of the steering wheel is aligned with a central axis of the steering axle, and the first and second electrical contact surfaces make contact with each other to establish an electrical connection. A steering wheel having a first adapter element and a steering axle having a second adapter element are also described.
CARTRIDGE RELOADING IMPROVEMENTS
Among other things, a digitally controlled actuator has a connector for coupling to a drive mechanism of an existing hand-driven cartridge reloader, to actuate a series of processing cycles of the reloader in which supplies of components are subjected to successive mechanical processing steps to produce reloaded cartridges ready for use. There are sensors associated with the actuator and the reloader to (a) acquire digital information that is indicative of a state of progress of each of the processing cycles and of conditions of the reloader related to the production of the reloaded cartridges, and (b) deliver the digital information to a digital controller for controlling the processing cycles of the reloader. The digital controller is connected to receive the digital information from the sensors and to control automatic operation of the reloader in successive processing cycles to produce reloaded cartridges without requiring human intervention.
SHAFT-HUB CONNECTION OF A DOUBLE GEAR ON A TRANSMISSION SHAFT
A shaft-hub connection of a double gearwheel (2) on a transmission shaft (5), in which the double gearwheel (2) has a first gearwheel (3) and a second gearwheel (4), which are connected to one another in a rotationally fixed manner. The shaft-hub connection is in the form of a shrink fit (7) between a hub (8) of the first gearwheel (3) and the transmission shaft (5). A maximum of the torque to be transmitted can be transmitted by virtue of the shrink fit (7).
COMPOSITE DRIVE SHAFTS
A drive shaft is for selectively connecting a drive input to an output. The drive shaft has a tubular portion, a first diaphragm member, and a second diaphragm member displaced axially along the shaft from the first diaphragm member. The first and second diaphragm members each are formed with two axial ends. At least one undulation extends radially of the ends. The tubular portion connects the first and second diaphragm members. The first and second diaphragm members and the tubular portion are formed of fiber-reinforced polymer matrix composites. The first and second diaphragm members are connected to first and second axial ends of the tubular portion through a mechanical connection at joints. There is also a method of forming a drive shaft.
