An overspeed brake system for use in an elevator powerhead is provided. A brake rotor is attachable to a cable drum to rotate with a cable drum. A brake member selectively engages the brake rotor upon transition of an actuation lever from a first position to a second position. A biasing member acts on the actuation lever to bias the actuation lever from the first position towards the second position. A latch arrangement has a first orientation maintaining the actuation lever in the first position and a second orientation releasing the actuation lever for transitioning from the first position to the second position. The latch arrangement transitions from the first orientation to the second orientation when a speed sensing arrangement senses that the rotational speed of the cable drum is at least a predetermined rotational speed.

Park lock and pad wear adjusting arrangement for electrically actuated brake

An electrically actuated brake assembly includes a brake disc, a brake pad, and an electric motor having a rotatable output shaft. A service brake transmission in operative rotational communication with the output shaft causes service braking of the vehicle in response to rotation of the output shaft, and an adjuster mechanism is operable to adjust a distance between the brake pad and the brake disc. An adjuster transmission operatively connected between the output shaft and the adjuster mechanism causes operative rotational communication between the output shaft and the adjuster mechanism when the adjuster transmission is engaged so as to transmit rotational movement of the output shaft to the adjuster mechanism, and causes there to be no operative rotational communication between the output shaft and the adjuster mechanism when the adjuster transmission is disengaged so as to not transmit rotational movement of the output shaft to the adjuster mechanism.

An adjustable friction brake assembly may adjust a variable amount of frictional force required to translate or rotate a shaft, rather than merely locking or unlocking the shaft. The brake assembly includes a housing for internally receiving the shaft, the external portion of the housing including external threading leading into circumferentially spaced fingers extending axially and oriented radially inward to engage the shaft. The brake assembly includes a rotatable adjuster having an internally threaded throughbore for engaging the housing and directing the fingers radially inward to engage the shaft, thereby increasing the required frictional force. For example, by rotating the adjuster clockwise, the required force can be increased; similarly, by rotating the adjuster counterclockwise, the required force can be decreased.

The invention relates to an adjustment mechanism for a vehicle disk brake, which is provided with an adjustment device for compensating the operation-induced wear on the brake linings and the brake disk, wherein the adjustment device has the following components: —a drive element (25) which is rotatably arranged within the housing of the disk brake on an axis (A) parallel to the axis of rotation of the brake disk and which can be set in rotation by a brake application device; —a shaft (40) which is arranged centrally on the axis (A), on which the drive element (25) is rotatably mounted; —a cardanic rotary bearing (45) which supports the shaft (40) in an opening (1A) of the housing in a pendulum-like manner and which is made at least partially of a deformable rubber or elastomer ring (46) and a steel ring (47) which is attached therein. In order to further develop the mentioned adjustment mechanism so that it can be produced more economically and requires only a small number of components, the steel ring (47) is supported in a sliding manner against a cylindrical bearing section (50) of the shaft (40), and a coupling consisting of a first coupling part (51), which is rotationally fixed to the shaft (40), and a second coupling part (52), which is rotationally fixed to the steel ring (47), is arranged on the axis (A), the second coupling part being a coupling ring (52) which is rotatably mounted on the shaft (40). The invention further relates to a corresponding cardanic rotary bearing (45) and a corresponding coupling ring (52).
