Caliper actuated wheel end sphere brakes
A braking system is presented that comprises a brake sphere rotor that is mounted to the wheel hub of an axle. The braking system incorporates a caliper arm assembly that comprises at least one caliper arm. Each caliper arm further comprises hemispherical friction material located between the caliper arm and the brake sphere rotor.
Brake
A brake includes a brake shoe moveable between an engaged position and a disengaged position and defining an axis of rotation of an associated brake drum. The brake includes an actuation shaft rotatable about a shaft axis and an actuation device for transferring rotational movement of the actuation shaft into movement of the brake shoe from the disengaged position to the engaged position. The axis of rotation is non-parallel to the shaft axis.
Brake system component axle mount
A brake system component axle mount for a vehicle axle/suspension system includes an axle having at least one depression formed therein. A sleeve is formed with at least one depression and disposed about the axle so that the axle depression and the sleeve depression matingly engage one another to form a mated pair of depressions. A brake mount assembly is rigidly attached to the sleeve. A method of forming the brake system component axle mount includes providing an axle and disposing a sleeve about the axle. At least one mated pair of depressions is simultaneously formed in the axle and the sleeve. A brake mount assembly is rigidly attached to the sleeve.
OPPOSED PISTON TYPE BRAKE ASSEMBLY
A brake assembly comprises: an actuator configured to generate a torque; inboard-side and outboard-side piston mechanisms disposed to be opposed to each other to perform a brake operation; an inboard-side drive mechanism configured to transfer the torque generated by the actuator to the inboard-side piston mechanism and a shaft extending from an inboard side to an outboard side of the brake assembly; an outboard-side drive mechanism configured to transfer the torque delivered from the inboard side of the brake assembly through the shaft to the outboard-side piston mechanism; and the shaft extending from the inboard side to the outboard side of the brake assembly to transfer the torque of the inboard-side drive mechanism to the outboard-side drive mechanism, such that the torque generated from the actuator and transferred to the inboard-side drive mechanism is transferable to the outboard-side drive mechanism through the shaft to drive the outboard-side piston mechanism.
Brake camshaft and method of manufacture
A brake camshaft and a method of manufacture. The brake camshaft may include a tube portion, a cam portion, and an end portion. The tube portion may have a first tube end, a second tube end, and a tube cavity that extends from the first tube end to the second tube end. The cam portion may be disposed on the first tube end. The end portion may be disposed on the second tube end.
