Grid coupling seal and method
A system and method for replacing a sealing arrangement of a grid coupling without removing or disturbing a mechanical connection of the coupling with driver and driven shafts connected to the coupling includes providing combined seal members having gasket seal portions that are integrally formed with radial seal portions and that are disposed between portions of the housing and the rotating seal group of the grid coupling.
COUPLING GUARD FOR A ROTATING MEMBER
A coupling guard for a rotor, which includes a housing for enclosing the rotor in an inner space of the housing, the housing extending longitudinally along a length of the rotor; a ventilation system for creating a flow of gas in the inner space from a gas inlet to a gas outlet that exhausts outside. The gas inlet includes a pipe extending along a pipe longitudinal axis from outside to inside the housing. The pipe includes a first opening located outside the housing and a second opening located inside the housing in the inner space. The pipe has the second opening close to the rotor when the housing encloses the latter. The second opening has a curved edge wherein a projection of the curved edge onto a plane extending parallel to the longitudinal axis of the pipe and parallel to the axis of longitudinal extension is a segment of curve.
PROPELLER SHAFT
A propeller shaft includes an outer ring member having a bottom section through which a vent hole is formed, on a first end part connected to a shaft member. The propeller shaft further includes an inner ring member provided to the inner peripheral side of a second end part of the outer ring member on the side axially opposite to the first end part and connected to a rod member; a ball member between the inner and outer ring members, which is lubricated by grease; a plate member attached to the inner peripheral part of the outer ring member and forming an auxiliary chamber with the bottom section; and a communication path. The communication path allows communication between the first end part side and the second end part side of the outer ring member with the plate member interposed therebetween.
Coupling for power generation system
A coupling is disclosed for connecting rotating components of a generator and a prime mover in a power generation system. The coupling comprises a hub, a coupling flange and an elastomeric component located between the hub and the coupling flange. The elastomeric component is removable radially from the coupling.
Outer Part for Homokinetic Joints and Rolling Bearings
The invention is developed on the basis of an external part for homokinetic joints and rolling bearings, wherein the external part (1) has an annular sealing surface (12) on at least one of its end faces, Axially extending drillholes (15) are created on the end face in the external part (1) to accommodate fastening means, wherein the sealing surface (12) extends radially between the drillholes (15) and the inner diameter of the external part (1) in the region of the drillholes (15).
According to the invention, a contour (16) which protrudes from the sealing surface (12) is arranged on the one or more end face sealing surfaces (12) of the external part (1), against which contour a gasket (13) is pressed in the assembled state. This protruding contour (16), with a longitudinal section in the form of a lug, offers a small pressing surface for the gasket (13) even in the pre-assembled state so that its position is secured without use of an adhesive even with small pressing forces such as are normally applied when the component to which the external part (1) belongs is pre-assembled, as well as during transport of the component and subsequent work steps.
PLUNGING SHAFT AND DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY INCLUDING SAME
A plunging shaft includes: a first shaft having an outer part defining a cylindrical bore and a through hole; a second shaft having an inner part; a ball spline structure connecting the outer part and the inner part so as to transmit rotational power while being relatively movable with respect to each other; and a sealing member that is inserted into the through hole to seal the through hole. The ball spline structure includes: a plurality of outer ball grooves; a plurality of inner ball grooves; a plurality of power transmitting balls; and a ball cage. The outer part is provided with an air discharging groove for discharging air in a space formed by a front end of the second shaft and the cylindrical bore when the first shaft and the second shaft move relatively move to become closer to each other.
Multipurpose Protective Cap for Transmission Drive Shaft Assembly
A multipurpose protective cap for a transmission prior to and during assembly with a drive shaft has a base portion having a cylindrical cross-section of a first inner diameter. The base portion comprises a side wall defining the cylindrical cross-section and having an outer edge and an inner edge, and a membrane spanning the cylindrical cross-section of the base portion at the outer edge of the side wall. An insertion portion extends from the base portion opposite the outer edge, the insertion portion having a cylindrical cross-section of a second inner diameter, the second inner diameter smaller than the first inner diameter. A contamination removal portion is formed in an interior surface of the insertion portion and configured to remove debris as the drive shaft passes through the insertion portion. A handle extends from the side wall of the base portion.
PROPELLER SHAFT
A propeller shaft includes a rotational shaft and a constant-velocity joint. The constant-velocity joint includes an inner race member connected to the rotational shaft, a rolling member disposed on an outer periphery of the inner race member in a radial direction relative to a direction of a rotational axis of the rotational shaft, and a tubular outer race member provided on an outer periphery of the rolling member in the radial direction and configured so that a rotational force of the rotational shaft is transmitted thereto via the rolling member. The outer race member has first and second end portions of the outer race member in the direction of the rotational axis. The outer race member includes a centering portion provided at the first end portion and formed so as to be smaller than a maximum diameter of the outer race member in the radial direction.
