HEAT SHIELD ASSEMBLY FOR WHEEL

A heat shield assembly for a vehicle wheel, comprising a single tubular heat shield panel or a plurality of heat sectional panel sections arranged to be connected to one another to form a tubular heat shield panel, the panel have an inner diameter surface and an outer diameter surface, the outer diameter surface arranged to be positioned, in use, adjacent to and spaced apart from an inner diameter surface of a wheel, and wherein the panel or each panel section is provided with one or more ridges extending in the circumferential direction, and wherein one or more wires is provided in one or more of the ridges.

HEAT SHIELD PANEL ATTACHMENT BRACKET

An attachment bracket for fastening a heat shield panel of a wheel assembly to a radially inner surface of a wheel, the bracket having an essentially Z-shaped structure comprising an attachment part defining two inner contact surfaces in a first plane each shaped to form, in use, a surface contact with the radially outer surface of the heat shield panel, and a wheel connector part defining an outer contact surface in a second plane arranged to form, in use, a surface contact with the wheel when the heat shield panel is located in position relative to the wheel, where the first and second planes are essentially parallel but spaced apart in the axial direction of the wheel, and a sloping connector part extending from the first plane to the second plane connecting a first end of the attachment part to a first end of the wheel connector part.

Model-based aircraft brake temperature estimation

A method for estimating the temperature of a component being monitored is described herein, comprising: inputting data related to the component being monitored into a brake thermal model; using the brake thermal model to predict a temperature of the component based on the input data; inputting a) actual temperature sensor measurement data of the component and b) the predicted temperature into an estimation algorithm, wherein the estimation algorithm combines the a) actual temperature sensor data and b) predicted temperature and generates an estimated brake temperature of the component based on the combined inputs. A computer-implemented system is also described.

Variable air hole covering flap device and operating method thereof

A variable air hole covering flap device is provided and selectively opens or closes an air hole formed in a wheel deflector or a wheel cover to allow air to be introduced toward a brake. The air hole is opened only when brake cooling of a vehicle is more necessary than aerodynamic performance of the vehicle to properly control the aerodynamic performance and the brake cooling performance of the vehicle as necessary.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CONTROLLING EXTERNAL BRAKE COOLING APPARATUS ACCORDING TO AIRCRAFT AND BRAKE STATUS

A brake cooling system of the present disclosure includes an external cooling apparatus located externally from an aircraft (e.g., available on the ground at the gate during parking of the aircraft). The external cooling apparatus is in electronic communication with the aircraft via a communication channel such that the external cooling apparatus receives live data from the aircraft for intelligent aircraft brake cooling. The live data includes measured brake temperature. The brake cooling system further includes a controller for collecting aircraft data and generating a cooling apparatus control signal.
