WIRELESS VEHICLE AREA NETWORK HAVING CONNECTED BRAKE SENSORS
A system for measuring brake data from a braking assembly of a vehicle. The braking assembly includes a floating portion that moves relative to brake pad wear. The system includes a brake sensor for each wheel. The brake sensors include a fixed sensing element and a target portion attached for movement with the floating portion. The sensing element generates a signal indicating a position of the target portion. The signal is used to determine brake pad thickness. The brake sensor also transmits the signal over a wireless vehicle area network for receipt and processing by a wireless hub in the vehicle area network. The vehicle area network can generate and transmit an alert and/or instructions for an autonomous vehicle based on the signal.
TRACTOR TRAILER VEHICLE AREA NETWORK WITH TRAILER SUB-NETWORK
A method establishes a vehicle area network on a vehicle having a tractor with a tractor wireless hub, the tractor being connected to a first trailer having a first trailer wireless hub. The method activates the tractor hub and the first trailer wireless hub, and shares credentials between the tractor wireless hub and the first trailer wireless hub in accordance with out of band pairing techniques. Typically, the tractor wireless hub acts as an access point for the vehicle area network but the access point can be centralized by: searching down a length of the vehicle to determine relative locations of the tractor wireless hub, the first trailer wireless hub and the second trailer wireless hub; determining a centrally located hub based on the locations; and establishing the centrally located hub as the access point.
ELECTROMECHANICAL BRAKE SYSTEM AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF
Provided is an electromechanical brake system comprising an actuator of an electromechanical brake operated by a motor, the electromechanical brake system including: a motor driving unit configured to drive the motor; and a control unit configured to be electrically connected to the motor driving unit, wherein the control unit is configured to: calculate a first rotation angle of a spindle in a brake apply mode of the electromechanical brake, calculate a second rotation angle of the spindle in a braking release mode of the electromechanical brake, and when a difference between the calculated first rotation angle and the calculated second rotation angle exists, control a notification device to notify a wear state of a brake pad.
WEAR SENSING
A brake system and wear monitoring for use in motor vehicles includes a transponder, wherein the transponder is configured and positioned in the brake system such that the transponder is deactivated by an engagement geometry of the brake system when a preselected wear state of the brake system is reached.
Brake lining wear sensor
A brake assembly having a non-braking configuration and a braking configuration includes a brake shoe having a brake lining coupled thereto. An actuator is coupled to the brake shoe, the actuator movable along an actuation path between a neutral actuator position and a braking actuator position. An actuator distance between the neutral actuator position and the braking actuator position increases over time in response to a reduction in thickness of a brake lining installed on the brake shoe. Moving the actuator from the neutral actuator position to the braking actuator position past a predetermined actuation distance causes a ratchet mechanism to advance to a next sequential ratchet position, which in turn moves the neutral actuator position of the actuator a predetermined distance away from the minimum actuator position. A sensor is coupled to the ratchet mechanism for detecting the sequential ratchet position of the ratchet mechanism.
CALIPER GUIDE ASSEMBLY
A caliper guide assembly having a guide pin, a guide bore, a cap, and a sensor arrangement. The guide bore is arranged to receive the guide pin. The cap may be secured to an open end of the guide bore proximate a free end of the guide pin. The sensor arrangement may include a first sensor component that is configured to provide an output indicative of relative axial displacement between a first sensor component and a second sensor component.
Wear warning device and warning system
The disclosure provides a wear warning device including a caliper, two brake pads, an elastic component and a first switch. The caliper has two push parts. The two push parts are respectively disposed at a first wall surface and a second wall surface of the caliper. The brake pads are located between the two push parts. The elastic component includes two arm parts and a connection part located between the arm parts. The arm parts are respectively disposed on the brake pads. The first switch is located between the arm parts. When the brake pads are in a worn-out state and the push parts are moved toward each other to force the brake pads to clamp a brake disk and to force the two arm parts to move toward each other, one of the arm parts activates the first switch to produce a wear warning signal.
CALIPER GUIDE ASSEMBLY
A caliper guide assembly for a heavy vehicle disc brake. The caliper guide assembly may include a wear sensor arranged to detect the position of a guide pin in relation to a guide bore. The guide pin and a guide surface may have different cross sectional profiles to define at least one void therebetween. The wear sensor may be at least partially accommodated within the void.
Disk brake, in particular for commercial vehicles
A disk brake includes a wear sensor and an adjusting device having an adjusting element in the form of a pressure screw and/or a pressure sleeve. The adjusting element has a recess in which a reset device extends which is rotationally coupled to the adjusting element for resetting the adjusting device. The wear sensor lies at least partially in the recess.
