Caliper guide assembly
A caliper guide assembly having a guide pin, a guide bore, a cap, and a sensor arrangement. The guide bore is arranged to receive the guide pin. The cap may be secured to an open end of the guide bore proximate a free end of the guide pin. The sensor arrangement may include a first sensor component that is configured to provide an output indicative of relative axial displacement between a first sensor component and a second sensor component.
BRAKE WEAR PIN ARCHITECTURE
An architecture that provides automatic monitoring of brake conditions making use of a wear pin on a brake. The disclosure makes use of the fact that a wear pin is required to be provided on an aircraft brake, by integrating monitoring functions such as displacement sensors and/or temperature sensors, into the pin. This means that the automatic monitoring components are not taking up more space on the brake than is already taken up by the compulsory wear pin.
Automatic Vehicle Air Brake Pushrod Stroke Measuring System
A system, method, and apparatus for vehicle brake monitoring are disclosed. An example method includes receiving three dimensional imagery of a vehicle brake and recording, via a digital interface card, the imagery with and without the brake applied. The method also includes processing, via a processor, the digital imagery samples into a real-world distance measurement of brake components with and without the brake applied. The method further includes applying, via the processor, feature matching to compare the brake component travel distance with at least one measurement recorded previously and stored in a database. The method moreover includes, conditioned on significant changes from that previously recorded measurements, transmitting via the processor, an alert that problems may exist with the sampled vehicle brake.
Hydraulic brake actuator piston adjuster assembly
A brake actuator assembly may comprise a housing, a piston disposed in the housing and slidably engaged therewith, a resilient member disposed within the housing and coupled to the piston, and a deformable member disposed within the housing a coupled to the piston, wherein each of the deformable member and the resilient member are disposed radially between a piston rod of the piston and the housing.
Brake assembly indicator
A brake component indicator configured to provide a visual indication of the release state of the brake component; the indicator comprising an indicator element connected to the brake component and moveable with the component during a braking operation, whereby the indicator element is provided with means to provide a visual indication of the direction and/or the distance moved by the indicator element during the braking operation. Preferably, the indicator element is in the form of a rod connected to a brake disk or pad that engages a moving part in a braking operation to brake the moving part, the rod provided with indicator means whose position is an indication of the distance the brake disk or pad has traveled to engage the moving part.
BRAKE PAD WEAR MONITORING SYSTEM AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING THE SAME
Disclosed herein is a brake pad wear monitoring system including a brake pedal sensor configured to detect the displacement of a brake pedal, a wheel speed sensor configured to detect each wheel speed of a vehicle, a pressure sensor configured to detect the braking pressure of the vehicle, and a controller electrically connected to the wheel speed sensor and the pressure sensor, wherein, when the braking pressure detected through the pressure sensor is higher than a preset pressure during braking of the vehicle, the controller calculates each of an expected stopping distance and an actual stopping distance of the vehicle according to the detected each wheel speed, and based on the expected stopping distance, the actual stopping distance, and the displacement of the brake pedal, the controller determines the wear of a brake pad.
Caliper guide assembly
A caliper guide assembly for a heavy vehicle disc brake. The caliper guide assembly may include a wear sensor arranged to detect the position of a guide pin in relation to a guide bore. The guide pin and a guide surface may have different cross sectional profiles to define at least one void therebetween. The wear sensor may be at least partially accommodated within the void.
Brake position and wear detection systems and methods
The present disclosure provides an electromechanical brake actuator system comprising an electromechanical brake actuator coupled to a derived position sensor, the derived position sensor comprising a controller, a rotation sensor, and an output drive circuit. In various embodiments, the derived position sensor may be configured to receive a first motor shaft angular velocity at a first time, receive a second motor shaft angular velocity at a second time, calculate a linear translation distance, and sum the linear translation distance and a previous ram position to obtain an actual ram position.
Wheel end brake pad wear sensor
A sensor assembly for determining an amount of wear on a brake pad in a disc brake includes a shaft extender having a first end coupled to one end of a shaft of an adjustment mechanism of a caliper of the disc brake for rotation with the shaft about a rotational axis and a second end defining a shaft extension. A sensor generates a signal indicative of a degree of rotation of the shaft extension with the signal indicative of the amount of wear on the brake pad. The sensor includes a body coupled to the shaft extension and configured for rotation about an offset axis offset from the rotational axis in response to rotation of the shaft extension about the rotational axis and a measurement device configured to generate the signal responsive to rotation of the body about the offset axis. A housing encloses the sensor.
BRAKE ASSEMBLY
A disc brake assembly having brake pads, a brake carrier, a caliper, and an actuating arrangement. The caliper is slidable with respect to the brake carrier for clamping and release of a rotor by the brake pads. The actuating arrangement is configured to selectively move the caliper and the brake carrier relative to each other generally transverse to a first longitudinal axis so as to lock or inhibit sliding of the caliper relative to the carrier.
