Vehicles that are relatively heavy and/or configured to transport heavy loads may utilize a powertrain comprising an electric machine capable of operating at high speeds and a multispeed transmission to propel the vehicle. An interface module is configured to modulate torque between the electric machine and the multispeed transmission allowing the electric machine to smoothly match speed as the multispeed transmission shifts between gears. The interface module facilitates efficient, predictable, and reliable modulation of torque between an input and an output of the powertrain of the vehicle.

Variable torque limiting clutch for a steel belt continuously variable transmission

A driven sheave and variable torque limiting clutch assembly for a CVT that includes a drive sheave, a driven sheave, a VTL clutch and a hydraulic system is provided. The driven sheave is operationally coupled to a drive sheave via belt of the CVT. The driven sheave includes a fixed sheave member and a movable sheave member. The driven sheave is operationally coupled to a drivetrain. The VTL clutch is coupled between the driven sheave and the drivetrain to selectively couple torque between the driven sheave and the drivetrain. The hydraulic system is configured to manipulate both the movable sheave member of the driven sheave and the VTL clutch with shared hydraulic pressure.

Slip coupling for a work machine

A slip coupling for a work machine includes a main clutch in the form of a friction-based and spring-operated slip clutch. The slip coupling further includes an auxiliary clutch configured to maintain a pre-set spring-induced clamping force on friction plates of the slip clutch, when the slip coupling rotates in a forward direction, and further configured to be able to increase the spring-induced clamping force, when the slip coupling rotates in a reverse rotational direction. The increase of the clamping force is enabled by the fact that one of two auxiliary clutch parts is axially movable when the slip coupling rotates in the reverse rotational direction, the axial movement actuating an increase in pre-tension of mechanical spring or springs of the slip clutch. A work machine such as a combine harvester equipped with the slip coupling is also described.

Drivetrain layout with CVT

A drivetrain layout that includes a primary gear reduction, a continuously variable transmission (CVT), a peak torque limiting (PTL) device and a range box is provided. The primary gear reduction is operationally engaged to an output of a motor. The CVT includes a primary pulley and a secondary pulley. The primary pulley of the CVT is operationally engaged to the primary gear reduction. The primary gear reduction reduces a rotational speed of the output of the motor that is coupled to the primary pulley of the CVT. The range box is operationally engaged with the secondary pulley of the CVT. The range box is configured to coupled torque between the CVT and wheels of a vehicle. The PTL device in operational engagement between the secondary pulley of the CVT and the range box, the PTL device configured to protect the drivetrain layout from torque transients.

TORSIONAL VIBRATION DAMPER HAVING AN AXIS OF ROTATION FOR A DRIVE TRAIN

A torsional vibration damper for a drive train includes an axis of rotation, a multi-flange damper for damping torsional vibrations, a torque limiter unit for limiting a maximum transmissible torque, an outer hub connecting the multi-flange damper to the torque limiter unit for torque transmission, and an inner hub for connection to a transmission input shaft. The multi-flange damper has a plurality of flanges. The torque limiter unit is arranged radially inside the multi-flange damper and includes an inner plate and an outer plate. The outer hub is arranged radially between the multi-flange damper and the torque limiter unit and the inner hub is arranged radially inside the torque limiter unit. The outer hub includes an external toothing engaged with each of the plurality of flanges and an internal toothing engaged with the outer plate.

A torque limiter includes: a first rotary member configured to be rotated by a drive source; at least one first friction member engaged with the first rotary member; at least one second friction member arranged so as to overlap the first friction member, and configured to rotate with rotation of the first rotary member by using frictional force generated between the second friction member and the first friction member; and a second rotary member engaged with the second friction member. It is preferable that the first rotary member and the second rotary member be pivotally supported by an identical rotary shaft, and that, while either the first rotary member and the second rotary member is fixed to the rotary shaft, the other one be supported so as to be rotatable about the rotary shaft.

A slip clutch assembly includes a clutch carrier, a one-way clutch assembly, and a preloaded clutch assembly. The one-way clutch assembly has a portion fixed to the clutch carrier. The preloaded clutch assembly has a first clutch plate, a second clutch plate, and a resilient element. The first clutch plate is drivingly engaged with the carrier. The second clutch plate is arranged for driving engagement with a first portion of a transmission. The resilient element is for compressing the first and second clutch plates. In some example embodiments, the one-way clutch assembly has an outer race, an inner race, and a plurality of blocking elements. The outer race is fixed to the clutch carrier. The inner race is arranged to engage a second portion of the transmission. The blocking elements are selected from the group of rollers or sprags for selectively locking the outer race to the inner race and are disposed radially between the outer race and inner race.

A torque limiter that enables setting a larger torque capacity although being compact and easy to incorporate into a power transmission mechanism, is provided. A torque limiter is incorporated into a power transmission mechanism for transmitting power from a starter motor to a crankshaft of an internal combustion engine. The torque limiter includes a driven gear for receiving power from the starter motor and a transmission gear for transmitting power. The driven gear and the transmission gear are coaxially disposed in a relatively rotatable manner. The driven gear and the transmission gear are configured to transmit power therebetween via a friction member. The friction member has a circular disc shape with an outer diameter that is larger than an outer diameter of the driven gear.

A multi-plate clutch is disclosed, including an outer plate carrier, an inner plate carrier, and a set of plates of alternately arranged radially between the outer plate carrier and the inner plate carrier and which is delimited by two end plates engaging at opposite ends of the set of plates, wherein each end plate rests against an annular axial supporting contour on the end face facing away from the set of plates, wherein the supporting contours differ in their effective diameter at which the supporting contours contact the associated end plate, and wherein the supporting contours apply an axial force on the set of plates such that the plates are elastically deformed into a conical shape.

CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION CLUTCH WITH A PEAK TORQUE LIMITER

A continuously variable transmission (CVT) clutch that includes a post, a fixed sheave, a moveable sheave and a peak torque limiter (PTL) is provided. The fixed sheave is rotationally mounted on the post. The fixed sheave is axially fixed in relation to the post. The moveable sheave is rotationally mounted on the post. The moveable sheave is configured to move axially on the post. The PTL operationally couples at least the moveable sheave to the post. The PTL is configured to slip when exposed to a torque over a set maximum toque threshold.
