Collision energy absorbing apparatus
The present disclosure provides a collision energy absorbing apparatus capable of suppressing a peak load at the initial stage of a collision and a load drop immediately after it. The collision energy absorbing apparatus is an apparatus that absorbs collision energy, the apparatus being mounted on a vehicle and including a pressure member, an absorbing member, and a guide part that guides, a moving direction of the pressure member, in which a hole through which the pressure member guided and moved by the guide part enters is formed in the absorbing member, and in an event of a collision, the pressure member is guided by the guide part and a tip part of the pressure member enters the hole formed in the absorbing member while shearing an inner wall of the hole, to thereby absorb collision energy.
DEVICE ABSORBING THE ENERGY OF IMPACTS OF RAILWAY CARS
An energy absorbing device has a rod with a part, suitable for cutting by means of surrounding cutting tools mounted in a body sleeve and oriented to the inside. In addition, the rod has an angular guiding part passing into the part suitable for cutting and is pivoted in a support, wherein the body sleeve with the attached cutting tools is connected by breakable elements with the support.
Steering assemblies
A collapsible steering column assembly includes a shroud comprising an outer tube that supports a steering wheel through a bearing and an inner tube that is fixed to a part of the vehicle, the column assembly being able to collapse telescopically by the outer tube moving over the inner tube, the assembly further including an energy absorbing strap that is fixed to the inner tube and a plough which is fixed to the outer tube, whereby in use the assembly is so arranged that upon a telescopic collapse the relative movement between the inner tube and the outer tube forces a part of the plough through the strap to progressively peel away a part of the strap from the remainder of the strap.
Absorbing apparatus
An absorbing apparatus includes a shock-absorbing unit that includes a front plate, a rear plate and a shock-absorbing core arranged between the front plate and the rear plate. The apparatus also includes a base connected to the rear plate of the shock-absorbing unit and having a rear plate, and a side shield surrounding at least partially the shock-absorbing core. One end of the side shield is connected to the front plate or the rear plate of the shock-absorbing unit, while the other end of the side shield is spaced-apart from the other of the front plate or the rear plate of the shock-absorbing unit. The base includes an energy absorbing element connected to the rear plate of the shock-absorbing unit and mounted in the rear plate of the base, while the rear plate of the base includes a cutting unit for cutting a surface of the energy absorbing element.

Device dissipating energy of rail car collisions
A device has a rod (8) mounted in an articulated support (1), suitable for cutting with a cutting tool, the articulated support (1) comprising a body (3) with an internal spherical surface (5), in which a movable external spherical surface (4) of an inner ring (2) is embedded. In addition, the inner ring (2) of the articulated support (1) has at least one cutting knife (10, 10a) designed to cut the outer layer of the rod (8).

Expandable energy absorbing fluid bladder systems and methods
Various techniques are provided for an expandable energy absorbing fluid bladder. In one example, the fluid bladder includes a primary portion and a secondary portion. The secondary portion can be configured to expand or increase in volume when the fluid bladder is subjected to a pulse greater than a threshold pulse. Expansion of the secondary portion can allow fluid or additional fluid to flow into the secondary portion and thus decrease a peak pulse and, thus, avoid rupture of the fluid bladder.
