Ball deflector for a ball screw

A ball screw including a threaded spindle and a spindle nut has a ball deflector arranged in an opening in the lateral surface of the spindle nut. The ball deflector is formed with an upper shell and a lower shell, the lower shell being arranged radially inwardly closer to the spindle nut longitudinal axis than the upper shell. The lower shell has a substantially half-shell-shaped contour. Both the upper shell and the lower shell are fastened in the spindle nut without any further, discrete mechanical fastening elements, and the ball deflector formed thereby does not protrude beyond the outer contour defined by the spindle nut.

ACTUATOR BALL SCREW FOR IMPROVED LOAD SHARING

The present disclosure provides an actuator assembly having a ball nut comprising a helical track and a ball screw. The ball screw of the actuator assembly includes a first translation bearing track having a first diameter, wherein the helical track and the first translation bearing track form a first translation bearing raceway in which a first translation bearing ball is disposed. The ball screw further includes a second translation bearing track having a second diameter, wherein the helical track and the second translation bearing track form a second translation bearing raceway in which a second translation bearing ball is disposed. The first diameter and the second diameter are not equal.

REVERSE MULTI-TRACK BALL SCREW

A cam includes a cylindrical ring having a substantially circular outer section and, externally, a helical running track. The ring has a conduit that connects two ends of the external helical running track, and the conduit includes a track for recirculation between the ends of the running track.

A rotary actuator for a hinged panel assembly, e.g., of a fixed-wing aircraft, includes ball bearings, an outer cylinder, a piston, and an inner shaft. The outer cylinder admits fluid pressure from a fluid pressure supply. The piston is circumscribed by the outer cylinder. The piston, outer cylinder, and ball bearings collectively forming an outer ball screw. The piston translates along a longitudinal center axis in response to the fluid pressure. The inner shaft is circumscribed by the piston, with the inner shaft, piston, and ball bearings collectively forming an inner ball screw that is concentric with the outer ball screw. The ball screws form an interlaced ball circuit with one or more shared ball paths. Piston translation rotates the piston and inner shaft, and to thereby recirculates the ball bearings between the outer ball screw and the inner ball screw through the interlaced ball circuit.

Linear actuators driven by everted ball screw assemblies are described herein. In some examples, the everted ball screw assembly includes a hollow screw shaft with internal threads, a ball cylinder concentrically positioned therein and having external threads, and a plurality of balls sized to fit in a substantially contiguous series along a working pathway that is defined by the space between the internal and external threads. One or more limiters prevent the ball cylinder from rotating. A motor rotates the hollow screw shaft, thereby driving the balls along the pathway and imparting linear motion to the ball cylinder, which is coupled to a connecting rod for actuating a load. The ball cylinder in some examples includes an internal return path with scoop elements that are sized and shaped to guide the balls into the internal return path and then back onto the working pathway.
