A clutch alignment apparatus and method of aligning a dual clutch system in a continuously variable transmission that enables a user to measure the alignment of the primary clutch and secondary clutch when the system is under a load that is similar to that which is applied when the system is operating under normal operating conditions.

Variable transmissions with nested pulleys

A variety of transmission mechanisms are provided that include split pulleys nested within each other in order to reduce the size of the transmissions, to provide infinitely variable transmission ratios that include forward and reverse ratios, or to provide some other benefits. The transmissions include multiple inner split pulleys nested within an outer split pulley. Two, three, or more inner split pulleys can be disposed within the transmission to balance the mass of the inner split pulleys in order to reduce vibration and internal stresses experienced by the transmission. This can increase the lifespan of the transmission, reduce wear, and increase efficiency. Additionally, providing multiple inner split pulleys in a nested configuration can allow for reduction of loads transmitted through bearings of the transmission.

Self-cooling system for an enclosed housing

A self-cooling system includes at least one rotating component and a housing configured to enclose the at least one rotating component. The housing includes at least one inlet bore and at least one exhaust bore. The at least one exhaust bore is disposed radially outward from a radial position of the at least one inlet bore with respect to an axis of rotation of the at least one rotating. The at least one inlet bore and the at least one exhaust bore are positioned to establish a pressure differential configured to circulate a fluid into the at least one inlet bore, through the housing, and out the at least one exhaust bore. The system does not have any feature in addition to the at least one rotating component configured to drive the fluid into the at least one inlet bore, through the housing, and out the at least one exhaust bore.

Belt-type continuously variable transmission

A belt-type continuously variable transmission includes: a primary pulley; a secondary pulley; a belt wound along the primary pulley and the secondary pulley; and a casing accommodating the primary pulley and the secondary pulley. Further, the belt has, in a portion being wound along the secondary pulley, a radially outside end which may be located further radially outside than an outer circumference portion of the secondary pulley, and a distance from a rotation center of the secondary pulley to an internal surface of the casing in a first direction, which is along a straight line passing through rotation centers of the primary pulley and the secondary pulley, is shorter than a distance from the rotation center of the secondary pulley to the internal surface of the casing in a second direction which is orthogonal to the first direction at the rotation center of the secondary pulley.
