BOSS THERMAL SEAL
Systems and methods for thermal seals are described herein. A thermal seal may comprise a first metallic plate having a first inner surface and a first outer surface, a second metallic plate having a second inner surface and a second outer surface, the second metallic plate being oriented substantially parallel to the first metallic plate such that the first inner surface and the second inner surface are separated by a gap, and a thermal wool having a plate portion in contact with the first inner surface and the second inner surface, the plate portion filling a void between the first inner surface and the second inner surface, and having a shoulder portion extending from a perimeter of the plate portion, the shoulder portion extending outward from between the first metallic plate and the second metallic plate.
FLAME-RETARDANT POLYMER COMPOSITION
A flame-retardant polymer composition comprises at least one elastomeric polymer that includes at least one monomer incorporated by polymerization. The at least one monomer comprises at least one of C2-C30 alkylenes. The flame-retardant polymer composition further comprises polyarylene sulfide. The polyarylene sulfide is present in a particle form and/or in a fiber form.
BONDED DOUBLE WALL SEAL ASSEMBLY
A seal assembly includes a first wall extending from a compression side to a fastened side of the seal assembly, a stiffening member embedded within the first wall adjacent to the compression side of the seal assembly, and a second wall exterior of the first wall and extending from the compression side to the fastened side of the seal assembly. When the seal assembly is pressurized, the first wall and the second wall define an insulated pocket.
Magnetic fire seal for aircraft nacelle
A magnetic fire seal for a nacelle may comprise an exterior surface configured to form a sealing interface and an interior surface opposite the exterior surface. A fire-resistant material may be disposed between the exterior surface and the interior surface. A magnet may be located at the interior surface proximate the sealing interface. A portion of the fire-resistant material may be located between the magnet and the exterior surface.
SEAL FOR A GAS TURBINE ENGINE
A seal arrangement configured to provide an airtight and fluid-tight seal between a first component and a second component, having a first pressure boundary seal disposable at least partially within the gap between the first component and the second component, the first pressure boundary seal being fixable to one of the first or second components to create an airtight seal with the other of the first or second component, the seal arrangement also having a first flame deflector that is configured to bridge across and cover the gap between the first component and the second component so as to create a fluid-tight seal over the gap between the first component and the second component, where the first flame deflector has a convex external shape so as to prevent any fluid impinging upon the first flame deflector from pooling on the first pressure boundary seal.
Anti-fire device for closing spaces at joints of a nacelle and nacelle comprising such a device
A device for sealing a space at a juncture between elements of a nacelle, the device being non-flammable by heat, having a predetermined shape, and having a proximal end configured to be inserted into the space to be sealed so as to seal it, and a distal end configured to be fastened to an element of the nacelle at a fire area.
ROTARY WING AIRCRAFT WITH A FIREWALL ARRANGEMENT
A rotary wing aircraft with a fuselage that forms an aircraft interior region, the fuselage comprising an upper primary skin that separates the aircraft interior region from an aircraft upper deck arranged above the fuselage, wherein the aircraft upper deck comprises an engine accommodating region with a firewall arrangement, the engine accommodating region accommodating at least one aircraft engine within the firewall arrangement, wherein the firewall arrangement comprises at least one gasket for tightening pass-through of a torque tube that connects the at least one aircraft engine to a main gear box of the rotary wing aircraft, and wherein the at least one gasket comprises at least two fire proof shells and a ring-shaped flexible fire proof bellows.
Sealant Having Fireworthy Properties for Use With Aircraft Parts
Fireworthy sealants may have a variety of compositions and be made by a variety of techniques. In certain implementations, a fireworthy sealant may include a body comprised of a cured, tacky, soft, deformable non-adhesive gel. The gel body may have an upper surface, a lower surface, and a perimeter, wherein the upper and lower surfaces of the gel body, in an uncompressed state, define a body thickness. The sealant may, in an uncompressed state, be dimensioned to fit in a first opening between a wall and an aircraft component surface and deformable when under compression to fit in a second opening, smaller than the first opening. The sealant may be flame retardant and produce low smoke density and low smoke toxicity.
POLYUREA PERIMETER SEAL FOR AN AIRCRAFT ANTENNA OR OTHER AIRCRAFT PART
A sealant is provided for use on an aircraft or other vehicle. The sealant may be used with a gasket. The sealant is a perimeter seal that comprises a polyurea member. The polyurea member is a self-curing, two-component mix. It may cure to a hardness in the range of about 40 to 100 (Shore A). It may maintain an adequate peel strength to withstand multiple thermal and pressure cycling, and may have a working life, wherein it may be shaped, of less than about eleven minutes.
SEAL SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR BOLTED TRACK USED IN CONVEYORIZED BAKING OVENS
A seal system and method for a bolted track such as a baking system conveyor track. The seal system provides a seal between a pair of track pieces being coupled end-to-end to one another. The seal system includes flanges attached near the ends of the track pieces and a gasket compressed between the flanges when the track pieces are coupled to form a seal. In example embodiments, the gasket is attached to a track plate. The track plate is coupled between the flanges and is configured to shield the gasket from heat and direct flame. The seal system optionally also includes a joint cover affixed to the bottom of the coupled flanges to form a secondary seal.
