Non-expanding liner hanger
Methods and apparatus for positioning a non-expandable liner hanger in a wellbore. A liner is coupled to the liner hanger, wherein the liner hanger comprises: a conduit body; and a reactive metal sealing element disposed on the conduit body, wherein the reactive metal sealing element comprises a reactive metal having a first volume. An example method includes contacting the reactive metal with a fluid that reacts with the reactive metal to produce a reaction product having a second volume greater than the first volume; and contacting a surface adjacent to the reactive metal sealing element with the reaction product to form a seal against the surface and to anchor the liner hanger from the surface, wherein anchoring the liner hanger to the surface suspends the liner in the wellbore.
Sealing apparatus with swellable metal
A sealing apparatus includes a swellable metal. The swellable metal, when exposed to a fluid, is transitionable from an initial configuration having an initial volume to an expanded configuration having an increased volume. The swellable metal, upon transitioning to the expanded configuration in an annulus of a fluid channel, forms a seal against a surface of the fluid channel such that fluid communication across the swellable metal in the annulus is at least partially restricted.
Two part bonded seal for static downhole tool applications
A seal assembly and methods of use, wherein the seal assembly is formed of an elastomeric enclosure within which a primary cavity is defined. A second cavity in the form of a crushable container is deployed within the primary chamber. An elastomeric compound is contained in one cavity and an elastomeric hardener contained in the other cavity. Upon application of an external force to the elastomeric enclosure, the enclosure is elastically deformed from a first shape to a second shape, wherein the second shape positions the elastomeric enclosure into a sealing configuration between adjacent annular surfaces. The external force also crushes the container, to cause mixing of the elastomeric compound and elastomeric hardener. Once the reaction is complete, the hardened compound retains the deformed shape of the elastomeric enclosure to maintain a seal between the annular surfaces.
Clamp on seal for water leaks
An apparatus and method for repairing broken, compromised, damaged or cracked conduits is provided. Conduits such as pipes and tubing may bear fluid flows therethrough. Often these conduits are damaged or compromised and begin leaking fluid. A clamp is provided that holds expandable metal securely about the outer circumference of the conduit. The expandable metal may react with any leaking fluid, such as water, thereby expanding and sealing the crack or otherwise seals the compromised conduit in a permanent manner.
High Pressure, Low Temperature Coupling
Disclosed herein are devices, systems, and method for multi-stage, reusable coupling. Such a coupler can have a formable flow path and can include a first sealing engagement and a second sealing engagement. The first sealing engagement can be configured to provide a first seal of the coupler at a first temperature condition. The second sealing engagement can be configured to provide a second seal of the coupler at a second temperature condition that is different from the first temperature condition.
BIDIRECTIONAL PRESSURE-INTENSIFIED SEAL
A pressure-energized bidirectional seal having a main body having a first end and a second end and a pair of legs extending from the second end of the main body, the pair of legs having an inner surface and an outer surface, the inner surface forming a hollow interior opening in a first direction. The bidirectional seal includes at least one rib extending from the outer surfaces and configured to sealingly engage a mating surface of a mating body the at least one rib forming a sealing zone opening in a second direction opposite of the first direction.
PACKING MEMBER FOR WATER-TIGHTENING PIPE
The present invention relates to a packing member for water-sealing a pipe, and more particularly, to a packing member inserted into a housing and externally inserted onto an outer side surface of a pipe, the packing member including: an inner circumferential part (261) externally inserted onto the pipe; an outer circumferential part (262) inserted into the housing, one side thereof being connected to the inner circumferential part (261) to form a fluid accommodation part (265) between the inner and outer circumferential parts (261) and (262); and the fluid accommodation part (265) to accommodate a fluid flowing in the pipe, in which the inner circumferential part (261) is brought into close contact with the outer side surface of the pipe by pressure of the accommodated fluid, thereby forming a water-sealing structure with the pipe. According to the present invention, the packing member includes a support part, and thus may maintain a shape of a packing even when exposed to high-pressure fluid environments when connected to the pipe or after installation, thereby providing a highly efficient water-sealing structure.
Swellable compositions, articles formed therefrom, and methods of manufacture thereof
A swellable composition comprises: a matrix material; and a condensed expandable graphite material disposed in the matrix material. A seal arrangement comprises: a swellable member and a sealing member disposed on a surface of the swellable member; wherein the swellable member comprises a condensed expandable graphite material. The condensed expandable graphite material in the swellable composition and the swellable member has a bulk density of about 1 to about 8 g/cm.sup.3 and comprises expandable graphite.
INCREASED ROBUSTNESS OF CONTROL LINES AND TOOLS WITH EXPANDING COMPRESSION DEVICE
A sealing device comprising an expanding metal provides for ongoing self-healing capability for use as a seal in conjunction with any downhole device or tool in wellbore applications. The sealing device may be a ferrule, or other type of compression device, that may be used for connecting one device to another device, such as a tube to a fitting, or a communication line to a downhole device. Wellbore fluids activate the expanding metal causing a leak to heal itself.
