SEAL RING AND SEALING STRUCTURE
20180010692 · 2018-01-11 ·

A seal ring and a sealing structure that reduce the deviation of the central axis of the seal ring from the central axis of a shaft thereby preventing the seal ring from abutting against the tip end of a housing in the operation of inserting the shaft in the housing. The seal ring includes a thin part 100A provided in a range less than 180° with respect to a circumferential direction and a thick part 100B, which is configured to protrude inward in the radial direction from an inner peripheral surface of the thin part 100A, the thin part 100A has an abutment joint part 110, and the thick part 100B has, at respective ends of both side surfaces on an inner peripheral surface side thereof, a concave part 120 over an entire range thereof to form a gap between the ends of the both side surfaces and corner parts at both ends of a groove bottom of the annular groove.

SLIDE COMPONENT

In an embodiment, in a slide component, a negative pressure generation mechanism 12 that generates negative pressure by relative rotational sliding of a stationary-side seal ring 5 and a rotating-side seal ring 3 is provided on a sealing face of one of the stationary-side seal ring 5 and the rotating-side seal ring 3, and at least the surface of the negative pressure generation mechanism 12 is covered by an adhesion-resistant material film 15. With the configuration, deposition of precipitates on a negative pressure portion of a sealing face can be inhibited.

Carbon seal

A seal includes a carbon seal that is disposed about an axis and extends between a first axial end and a second axial end. The second axial end includes a seal surface and a radially outer edge of the seal surface is axially spaced from a radially inner edge of the seal surface along the axis.

ABRADABLE SEAL

An abradable seal includes an outer ring arrangement and an energiser for urging said outer ring arrangement against an opposing surface, wherein an outermost surface of said outer ring arrangement defines a sealing surface of said abradable seal; wherein said outer ring arrangement is configured such that after a first period of operation said sealing surface suddenly transitions from having a relatively large surface area to having a relatively small surface area, so as to cause a sudden increase in internal leakage across the seal at said transition.

Carbon Face Seal

An apparatus has: a first member; a shaft rotatable relative to the first member about an axis; and a seal system. The seal system has a seal carrier having: an axially-extending wall having an inner diameter (ID) surface; and a radially-extending wall having a first surface. A seal is carried by the first member and has: an outer diameter (OD) surface; and a seal face. A seat is carried by the shaft and has a seat face in sliding sealing engagement with the seal face. One or more springs bias the seal carrier relative to the first member so as to bias the seal face against the seat face. At least one of the seal carrier inner diameter (ID) surface and seal outer diameter (OD) surface is formed by a coating.

Seal assembly for gas turbine engine

A seal assembly for a gas turbine engine having a seal formed of a carbon material; and a seal seat positioned for rotation relative to the seal, wherein the seal and the seal seat each have a sealing surface which together define a sliding seal, and further having a carbon film on the sealing surface of the seal seat.

SEAL WITH GAP-LESS SPRING AND METHOD OF MAKING AND USING THE SAME

A seal including a jacket including an annular body defining a central axis and a recess extending into the annular body concentric to the central axis, where the jacket includes at least 30 wt % of a PTFE and at least 10 wt % of a filler material, and where the filler material includes a boron-containing material, a nitrogen-containing material, a titanium-containing material, a silicon-containing material, a carbon fiber, a glass fiber, or a combination thereof; and an energizing element disposed in the recess, where the energizing element includes a gap-less spring.

Carbon seal assembly

A seal assembly includes a carbon seal that has a sealing surface. A seal seat has a sealing surface and is positioned for rotation relative to the carbon seal. A diamond-like carbon coating at least partially forms the sealing surface on the seal seat.

Containment or separation seal

A seal includes a mating ring that rotates relative to a carbon primary ring at a seal interface. A buffer gas is provided into the seal and passes from the back of the primary ring to the seal interface. The seal can be used as a separation seal or in combination with another seal.

Coil Spring Carbon Face Seal

An apparatus has: a first member; a shaft rotatable relative to the first member about an axis; and a seal system. The seal system has: a seal carried by the first member and having a seal face; a seal housing; a seat carried by the shaft and having a seat face in sliding sealing engagement with the seal face; and a plurality of coil springs biasing the seal face against the seat face, each coil spring having a first end and a second end. The seal has a plurality of spring compartments. Each of the plurality of coil springs is partially within a respective associated compartment of the plurality of spring compartments.
