OIL DRAIN BACK SEAL AND SYSTEMS, ASSEMBLIES, KITS, AND METHODS THEREOF

A funnel or drain back seal and systems, assemblies, components, kits, and methods thereof can comprise a body defining an opening that extends from a top of the body to a bottom of the body; a head portion that extends outward from the top of the body; and a flap or lip that extends outward from the bottom of the body. The opening can be adapted to pass draining oil from the top of the body to the bottom of the body for supply into an engine block.

GASKET PLATE

A gasket plate having a rigid orientation plate retaining at least one seal in a predetermined location in the orientation plate, and a rigid insert placed inside the seal such that the seal interposes the insert and the orientation plate.

Multi-layer gasket with improved fatigue resistance

A multi-layer head gasket having at least two active layers and a shim layer sandwiched there between. The gasket and shim layer include cylinder openings aligned with the cylinders disposed within an engine block. The shim layer incorporates a plated portion for adding topography to an otherwise flat shim layer, the areas of plating determined based on FEA and/or pressure film load testing, for improving fatigue resistance, sealing pressure, and/or loading characteristics of the gasket.

Gasket with an anti-fret coating

A gasket for a combustion chamber is provided. The gasket comprises an upper assembly including an upper combustion sealing section with a raised bead positioned between a first component and a second component adjacent to a combustion chamber and an upper fluid sealing section positioned between the first component and the second component at a location spaced away from the combustion chamber. The upper combustion sealing section includes an anti-fret coating on a metal layer, the upper fluid sealing section includes a synthetic rubber coating on a metal layer, and the upper combustion sealing section is greater in thickness than the upper fluid sealing section.

An engine is provided with a block forming a cylinder, a head, and a gasket positioned between the block and the head. The gasket has first and second outer layers and a distance layer positioned therebetween. The first layer defines a first aperture and a bead surrounding the cylinder. The distance layer defines a second aperture concentrically arranged between the first aperture and the bead. The gasket has a stopper layer extending inwardly from the distance layer to a circular stopper element positioned adjacent to and aligned with the first aperture. A method of sealing an engine includes compressing a gasket between a block and a head to form a primary seal at a first interface and a secondary seal at a second interface between first and second outer layers and an intermediate layer, the first interface being positioned between the second interface and a bead surrounding a cylinder.

In a tabular metal gasket having a plurality of bolt holes, a seal bead is provided between bolt holes which are adjacent to each other, one end of the seal bead is connected to the one bolt hole and the other end of the seal bead is connected to the other bolt hole. The seal bead is formed into a gradually changing shape in which a width is the narrowest at the center portion between the bolt holes and the width is gradually enlarged from the center portion between the bolt holes toward the bolt holes, and satisfies the following expression (a): D>d≧W1 in which D is a diameter of a head seat surface of a fastening bolt which is inserted into the bolt hole, d is a diameter of the bolt hole, and W1 is the maximum width of the seal bead.

Metal-elastomer seal with integrated dirt and media sealing

A flat gasket has a functional layer with at least one media through-opening and at least one combustion chamber through-opening. A second layer, which is separate from the functional layer. The second layer has a media through-opening that corresponds to the media through-opening in the functional layer and a combustion chamber through-opening that corresponds to the combustion chamber through-opening in the functional layer. The functional layer has at least one combustion chamber sealing bead, which is preferably a full bead, for each combustion chamber through-opening. The second layer has an outer boundary sealing bead and an elastomer sealing profile for each media through-opening.

Metal gasket

A metal gasket (10) installed between a cylinder head and a cylinder block comprises at least one metal substrate (11) coated with a sealant (19) on its outer surface, and including a full bead (13) for cylinder bore hole sealing and a half bead (16) for liquid hole sealing. The half bead (16) includes: an inclined plate portion (16b) connected to a flat substrate body (11a) of the metal substrate (11) through a first bend portion (16a) and inclined with respect to the substrate body (11a); and an edge plate portion (16d) connected to the inclined plate portion (16b) through a second bend portion (16c) and inclined with respect to the inclined plate portion (16b). A radius at a convex surface of the first bend portion (16a) and a radius at a concave surface of the second bend portion (16c) are in a range of 2.0 mm to 3.5 mm.
