Hydrocarbon pipeline pressure safety relief bypass system
09841114 · 2017-12-12 ·

A method, system, and apparatus are provided for a safety relief bypass system for an oil pumping pipeline that provides pressure relief to the pipeline in order to prevent and reduce pipeline rupture. More specifically, the bypass system can include one or more rupture discs having a specific burst pressure that allows fluids under pressure to bypass through alternative pipeline thereby preventing damage to other piping components.

Reverse-acting rupture disc with buckling-control feature

A reverse-acting pressure relief device (10) is provided comprising buckling-control structures, namely pocket regions (20, 22) and belt regions (24) having differing material thicknesses. The pocket regions (20, 22) generally comprise areas of reduced material thicknesses and serve to weaken the structural integrity of the bulged section (12) of device (10) so that reversal can be initiated at lower pressures. Belt regions (24) generally comprise areas of enhanced mechanical properties that assist with reversal control and opening of bulged section (12) thereby ensuring complete opening of the device (10).

Rupture Disc Valve Device

A rupture disc valve device as provided herein is configured to selectively release a pressurized material. In some embodiments, the rupture disc has a burst pressure rating less than a pressure of the pressurized material. The valve device selectively braces the rupture disc until release of the pressurized material is desired. To release the pressurized material, the valve device is configured to remove or adjust the bracing support to the rupture disc, allowing the pressurized material to burst the rupture disc.

Method and device for increasing safety when using battery systems and bursting discs

Method for increasing safety when using bursting discs (BV), wherein the bursting disc (BV) is suitable for releasing gas in a controlled manner from battery systems (B), wherein a signal, in particular a warning signal, is generated in dependence upon the spatial change at least of one site on the surface of the bursting disc (BV).

This disclosure relates to a rupture disk (400), which may include a flange portion (401), a reverse-buckling dome portion (403), and a transition portion (402) joining the flange portion to the reverse-buckling dome portion. The dome portion may define an apex. The dome portion may further define an indentation (404) at the apex and/or a line of weakness (405), which may be proximate to the transition portion and/or may include a relatively weak segment configured to initiate rupture. An integral stress concentrating feature may be provided. A line of weakness and/or a base of a domed portion may be non-circular. The disclosure also relates to a rupture disk crimped into a holder (410). The disclosure also relates to a container having a wall that defines a rupturable portion.

Reverse rupture disk assembly for electrical transformer rapid depressurization and explosion prevention system

An electrical transformer system includes an electrical transformer and a depressurization system in fluid communication with an outlet of the electrical transformer. The depressurization system may include a rupture disk having a downwardly facing domed portion extending toward the outlet of the electrical transformer. The domed portion has an apex and a base with a retention portion surrounding the domed portion adjacent the base. A score line network extends circumferentially around the domed portion adjacent the base and spaced apart from the apex. The score line network includes a plurality of serrated score line segments and a plurality of hinge score line extending from the score line segments towards the apex of dome portion. The rupture disk may be interested into a housing assembly with a removable cover.

BURST DISC SYSTEMS

A burst disc system can include a plurality of burst discs serially arranged to successively rupture one at a time. Each burst disc can be configured to rupture at one or more set burst pressures. The system can include an indicator configured to allow a user to receive an indication that a last burst disc of the plurality of burst discs has ruptured.

A pressure relief module, such as a rupture disk module or a burst panel module, is disclosed. A pressure relief module may comprise a first membrane (10) configured to seal an opening of a contained system and configured to burst open when a pressure in the contained system reaches a predetermined burst pressure. A second membrane (20) may be joined to the first membrane to form a membrane interspace (30) with the first membrane. The membrane interspace (30) may be configured to prevent a backpressure in the contained system from changing the burst pressure required to burst open the first membrane (10). A pressure relief module may provide advantages for a low-pressure enclosure and/or to provide temperature stability and/or backpressure stability.
