THREADED CONNECTION FOR PIPE
20220412486 · 2022-12-29 ·

In a threaded connection for pipe with intermediate shoulder surfaces provided between two thread steps for functioning as torque shoulders, the compression resistance under repeatedly applied combined loads is improved. The axial distance between the box intermediate shoulder surface 33 and box end shoulder surface 34 of the box 3 before make-up, L.sub.B, is larger than the axial distance between the pin intermediate shoulder surface 23 and pin end shoulder surface 24 of the pin 2 before make-up, L.sub.P, such that, upon completion of make-up, the pin and box intermediate shoulder surfaces 23 and 33 are in strong pressure contact to function as torque shoulders, while the pin and box end shoulder surfaces 24 and 34 are not in contact or are in light contact. The difference between the axial distances, (L.sub.B−L.sub.P), is such that, when the pin 2 and box 3 are made up and upon application of a certain magnitude of axial compressive load, the pin 2 and box 3 are slightly axially compressed by the compressive load and the pin end shoulder surface 24 comes into pressure contact with the box end shoulder surface 34 to bear part of the compressive load.

Adaptor for Mounting a Filter to a Hydraulic Manifold
20230099052 · 2023-03-30 ·

A filter adaptor joins a canister filter to a hydraulic manifold block. The adaptor includes a hexagonal tool-receiving portion, an outflow passageway and one or more inflow passageways. The outlet flow passageway extends between opposed ends of the adaptor, and is used to direct filtered fluid from the filter to the manifold block. The inlet flow passageway(s) extend between the one end and a sealed region of the adaptor, and are used to direct fluid from the manifold block to the filter. The adaptor includes auxiliary ports formed in the tool-receiving portion that communicate with the inlet flow passageways and permit monitoring thereof.

THREADED CONNECTION FOR PIPE

In a threaded connection for pipe with a two-step thread construction, including intermediate shoulders, during stabbing, the internal-pressure sealing surface of the pin near its tip is prevented from contacting the intermediate shoulder of the box and thus receiving damage. L.sub.P, L.sub.B, h.sub.P and h.sub.B shown in FIG. 2 satisfy Expressions (1) and (2), provided below. θ.sub.seal is the angle of slope of the straight line connecting the two ends, as determined along the axial direction, of the internal-pressure sealing surface of the pin. Expression (3), provided below, is also satisfied.

L.sub.P<L.sub.B  (1)

h.sub.B<h.sub.P(L.sub.B−L.sub.P)×tan θ.sub.seal  (2)

SCREW CONNECTION

In order to prevent gap corrosion at a freely accessible face of a threaded connection (1) in particular when used in sea water the threaded connection (1) is encapsulated in a circumferential tight annular chamber (3) in order to prevent a penetration of sea water to the threaded connection (1) and thus prevent the gap corrosion between the two threads (2, b) of the threaded connection (1) meshing with each other. This is achieved by a particularly pressure tight and long service life primary seal (6) and advantageously a supplemental secondary seal (16), in particular for a threaded connection (1) which seals a cable pass through (15) of a housing (22).
