A COLLAR FOR A RECESSED FIXTURE
There is described a collar for a recessed fixture, in particular a recessed fixture for recessing in a hole. The collar comprises a wall to extend into the hole, such wall comprising an indented catch, and such catch is arranged to catch a sprung arm of the fixture to retain the collar and fixture together with the sprung arms trapped therebetween. By providing a collar which is able to secure the fixture in a safe intermediate (not fully installed) position, it is possible to improve the efficiency and safety of installation and removal of the fixture.
FIRE RATED CANLESS RECESSED LUMINAIRE
A recessed luminaire includes a housing supporting a light emitter, an intumescent material coupled to an outer surface of the housing, and a plate coupled to the housing and to the intumescent material. The housing configured to be positioned at least partially through a ceiling. The housing also includes a stepped surface. The intumescent material has a shape complementary to a shape of the housing. The plate is positioned adjacent to the stepped surface and to an upper surface of the intumescent material.
Fire rated housing for lighting
A fire rated lighting housing (can) has: (a) a bottom that is open; (b) a top that is at least mostly closed or entirely closed; (c) a sidewall that runs from the bottom to the top; and (d) a fire-retarding material that is physically touching at least some portion of the sidewall when the sidewall is in a cool-state. The cool-state is when a temperature of the housing is at or below a predetermined normal operating temperature for the housing. This fire rated lighting housing, with the fire-retarding material, is configured to slow a fire from a lower floor reaching an above located adjacent floor with a minimum predetermined fire rating, which may be at least one (1) hour or more. Additionally, the top and the sidewall at least mostly enclose an internal-volume that is configured to directly house a light emitting element, like a LED (light emitting diode).
A LIGHT FITTING SYSTEM
A light fitting system has a light fitting for recessed mounting of a luminaire in a substrate such as a ceiling, which fitting comprises a luminaire support and a base for receiving the luminaire support and in relation to which base the luminaire support may be manipulated or moved or directed, and a tool for manipulating the luminaire support. The luminaire support and the luminaire support tool are configured for cooperative inter-engagement whereby the tool may be releasably inter-engaged with the luminaire support to enable manipulation of the luminaire support in relation to the base providing the advantage of a readily adaptable or manipulated luminaire support angularly adjustable or removable by means of the luminaire support tool thereby enabling adjustment and/or removal and replacement of a luminaire from a base without dismantling the fitting from the substrate into which it is mounted.
Downlight firestop
A firestop element is provided which is fabricated from a polymer intumescent composition. The element is associated with a light can of a downlight. In some embodiments, the firestop element drops to a deployed position in the light can in the event of a fire.
Recessed Light Apparatus
A recessed light apparatus for being installed at a ceiling includes a light source unit, a heat sink for dissipating heat generated from the light source unit, and a thermal insulating member coupled between the heat sink and the light source unit to define an upper space above the heat insulating member and a bottom space below the thermal insulating member. In case of fire, the heat insulating member prevents flame or fire spreading from the bottom space to the upper space.
Modular lighting fixture
A modular lighting fixture that is capable of receiving interchangeable functional modules includes a body having a main portion and a second portion. The main portion has a hollow interior defining an interior space extending in a longitudinal direction from a first open end of the main portion to a second end of the main portion. The second portion is provided at the first end and extends outwardly in a transverse direction, wherein the interior space is configured to receive and retain a functional module configured to provide non-light emitting function. A light emitting means is provided on the second portion of the body and configured to emit light.
Ceiling fixture firestop
A system for use with a ceiling fixture, a portion of which projects though an opening in a ceiling wall, for assisting in preventing spread of fire through the opening. The system has a metal collar for lining the opening. The metal collar has an upper rim overlying a top surface of the ceiling wall at the opening, a middle section facing an inner edge of the ceiling wall at the opening and a lower rim underlying a bottom surface of the ceiling wall at the opening. The system also has an intumescent ring for surrounding the projecting portion of the fixture so as to be interposed between the metal collar and the projecting portion of the fixture.
Downlight firestop
An intumescent firestop element is supported within a light can by fire sensitive supports each having a base fabricated of a meltable or flammable material and a supporting element fabricated of metal and supported by the base, with the base joined to the light can. In response to a fire, the fire sensitive supports cease to support the firestop element which drops to a deployed position in the light can until arrested by a limiter.
