Disclosed is an electric range which provides specific functions without user intervention. The electric range adjusts the heating power if a user enacts a gesture that slides an item to be heated in a first direction. Also, the electric range provides additional functions if a user enacts a gesture that slides an item to be heated in a second direction.

System and method for identifying cookware items placed on an induction cooktop

A method for identifying cookware on an induction cooktop having coils, includes the steps: (a) acquire a coverage factor matrix; (b) set a present level at a maximum value of the matrix; (c) count closed iso-level curves corresponding to the present level and save the result; (d) decrease the level by an amount; (e) count closed curves corresponding to the decreased level; (f) when the number of closed curves at the present level is not lower than that from the previous level, update the saved result with the present level; (g) when the number of closed curves at the present level is lower than that from the previous level, keep the previously saved result; (h) repeat steps (d) to (h), until the number decreases; (i) assign coils inside the curve to a distinct cluster; and (j) use the clustering to estimate a position, shape, size, and orientation of the cookware.

LIGHT SOURCE UNIT AND COOKING APPLIANCE INCLUDING THE SAME

A light source module and a cooking appliance including the same may include a light source emitting light toward a glass top plate, a light source guide to accommodate the light source, including a light transmitting path formed in the light source guide, and limit a light irradiation region so as to guide light emitted from the light source to a light display region of the glass to plate through the light transmitting path, and an attachment bracket provided between the light source guide and the glass top plate, the attachment bracket having an optical emission path to allow light to pass from the light transmitting path and the light display region.

METHOD FOR OPERATING A HOB, AND HOB
20180014363 · 2018-01-11 ·

A method for operating a hob for maintaining a state, which exists at the time of activation of the maintaining operation, at a cooking point of the hob with a cooking vessel on it detects a change in temperature of the cooking vessel as a change in state, wherein supplied power and/or a change in temperature of the cooking vessel are evaluated. A maintaining function for maintaining the state, which is indicated at this time, at the cooking point with a cooking vessel placed on it can be triggered. In doing so, the current state at the cooking point is classified as a process at the boiling point of water on the one hand and as a process which is different therefrom or as a process which takes place at a different temperature without a phase transition of water on the other hand.

Cooking Appliance and Method for Limiting Cooking Utensil Temperatures Using Dual Control Modes
20180010804 · 2018-01-11 ·

Cooking appliances and methods for operating cooking appliances are provided. In one exemplary embodiment, a method for operating a cooking appliance is provided. The method includes providing power to the heating source according to a first control mode; determining whether to transition from the first control mode to a second control mode and, if so, then providing power to the heating source according to the second control mode. The method further includes determining whether to transition to the first control mode and, if so, then returning to providing power to the heating source according to the first control mode. The cooking appliances and methods include features for limiting cooking utensil temperatures using dual control modes.

INDUCTIVE COOKTOP DISPLAY
20230021586 · 2023-01-26 ·

A system for improving a display coupled to an inductive cooktop includes an induction coil and an electrically-actuated display (EAD) assembly. The induction coil includes a magnetic field. The EAD assembly is disposed on the induction coil and includes a frontplate adjacent to the induction coil and a thin film transistor (TFT) array backplane opposite the frontplane. The TFT array backplane includes a scan line with some degree of orthogonality to the magnetic field and a data line with some degree of parallelism to the magnetic field. The scan line and the data line are configured to activate a display pixel corresponding to the EAD assembly. One or more ground lines of the EAD assembly have some degree of parallelism to the magnetic field of the induction coil.

INDUCTIVE COOKTOP SYSTEM WITH DISPLAY INTERFACE
20230027830 · 2023-01-26 ·

An inductive cooktop system includes a top plate that has a top surface for supporting a cookware object. A display is disposed below the top plate, and induction coils are arranged in a matrix and disposed vertically below the display. The induction coils are each operable to generate a magnetic field that partially extends above the top surface of the top plate to couple with the cookware object. A control system receives an initial input indicating a position of the cookware object on the top surface of the top plate. Data processing hardware of the control system then determines the pixels of the display corresponding to the indicated position from the input. The control system then generates a graphic at the indicated position for the cookware object by illuminating the plurality of pixels of the display.
