SENSOR VALIDATION
An HVAC system includes a compressor, condenser, and evaporator. A sensor measures a value associated with the refrigerant in the condenser or the evaporator, and a controller is communicatively coupled to the compressor and the sensor. The controller determines, based on an operational history the compressor, that pre-requisite criteria are satisfied for entering a sensor validation mode. After determining the pre-requisite criteria are satisfied, an initial sensor measurement value is determined. Following determining the initial sensor measurement value, the compressor is operated according to a sensor-validation mode. Following operating the compressor according to the sensor-validation mode for at least a minimum time, a current sensor measurement value is determined. The controller determines whether validation criteria are satisfied for the current sensor value. In response to determining that the validation criteria are satisfied, the controller determines that the sensor is validated.

According to one embodiment, a refrigeration cycle apparatus includes a motor which including a plurality of phase windings in a mutually unconnected state, a first inverter which controls application of electric power to one ends of the phase windings, a second inverter which controls application of electric power to the other ends of the phase windings, switches connected between the other ends of the phase windings, and a motor controller which selectively sets one of an open-windings mode and a star-connection mode. The motor controller sets, at the time of startup of the motor, the open-windings mode.
Cryocooler and starting method of cryocooler
A cryocooler includes an expander that includes a cooling stage, an exhaust temperature sensor that measures an exhaust temperature which is a temperature of a working gas exhausted from the expander and outputs an exhaust temperature signal indicating the measured exhaust temperature, and a controller that compares, during execution of initial cooling in which the cooling stage is cooled from an initial temperature to a cryogenic temperature, the measured exhaust temperature to a reference temperature based on the exhaust temperature signal and completes the initial cooling in a case where a temperature difference between the measured exhaust temperature and the reference temperature is within a reference range.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR OPERATING A VARIABLE SPEED COMPRESSOR OF AN AIR CONDITIONER UNIT
An air conditioner unit includes a variable speed compressor for circulating refrigerant through refrigeration loop and a controller configured to initiate an operating cycle, start a compressor transition timer, and determine an unfiltered compressor speed. The unfiltered compressor speed is fixed based on the selected operating mode until the compressor transition timer reaches a predetermined transition delay time, after which the unfiltered compressor speed is determined using a closed loop feedback control algorithm. The controller is further configured to operating the variable speed compressor at a target compressor speed that is modified from the unfiltered compressor speed based on the identification of a speed modification condition, such as a dehumidification deficiency a speed restriction, or the identification of one or more resonance avoidance zones.
COOLING DEVICE AND CONTROL METHOD FOR COOLING DEVICE
A cooling device using a refrigeration cycle in which a refrigerant is circulated through a heat receiver, a compressor, a heat radiator, and an expansion valve includes: a gas-liquid separator configured to perform gas-liquid separation on the refrigerant supplied from the expansion valve; a pump configured to send a liquid phase refrigerant separated by the gas-liquid separator to the heat receiver; and a control unit configured to control opening and closing of a refrigerant flow path of the refrigeration cycle, and an operation and stop of the compressor and the pump, wherein the control unit starts the operation of the pump on condition that a net positive suction head of the pump has reached a predetermined value or more.
Electronic expansion valve and superheat control in an HVAC system
An EXV (electronic expansion valve) control system includes an EXV controller for controlling an EXV within the refrigerant loop of an HVAC system. The EXV controller implements a master control algorithm that includes a plurality of sub-control algorithms and an initial series of branching decision points to determine the current mode of operation and to execute select sub-control algorithms corresponding to the current mode of operation, while not executing the sub-control algorithms corresponding to the other modes of operation. The sub-control algorithms implement various combinations of PID (Proportional Integral Derivative) control and feed-forward control, the results of which can be mapped to specific control instructions for the EXV.
