OFFSHORE LNG PROCESSING FACILITY

An offshore LNG processing plant includes a first module including a personnel accommodation facility on a first vessel, a second module including a gas treatment facility on a second vessel, and a third module including a gas liquefaction facility on a third vessel. Each of the first, second, and third modules are assembled on the corresponding vessels, and then transported to an offshore location in a body of water, such as a river, a lake, or a sea. At the offshore location, each vessel deploys legs to the bed of the body of water to raise a hull of each vessel out of the water. The first module is then coupled to the second module, and the second module is coupled to the third module. A fourth module on a fourth vessel is coupled to the third module to provide LNG storage.

Pretreatment and pre-cooling of natural gas by high pressure compression and expansion

A method and apparatus for producing liquefied natural gas. A pretreated natural gas stream is compressed in at least two serially arranged compressors to a pressure of at least 1,500 psia and cooled. The resultant cooled compressed natural gas stream is expanded in at least one work producing natural gas expander to a pressure less than 2,000 psia and no greater than the pressure to which natural gas stream has been compressed, thereby forming a chilled natural gas stream that is separated into a refrigerant stream and a non-refrigerant stream. The refrigerant stream is warmed in a heat exchanger through heat exchange with one or more process streams associated with pretreating the natural gas stream, thereby generating a warmed refrigerant stream. The warmed refrigerant stream and the non-refrigerant stream are then liquefied.

A heat exchanger system includes a core-in-shell heat exchanger and a liquid/gas separator. The liquid/gas separator is configured to receive a liquid/gas mixture and to separate the gas from the liquid. The liquid/gas separator is connected to the core-in-shell heat exchanger via a first line for transmitting gas from the liquid/gas separator to a first region in the core-in-shell heat exchanger and connected to the core-in-shell heat exchanger via a second line for transmitting liquid from the liquid/gas separator to a second region of the core-in-shell heat exchanger.

One aspect of the invention relates to a hydrocarbons fluid liquefaction system, having a first heat-exchange module having a pre-cooling exchanger having a pre-cooling circuit and a plurality of pre-cooling refrigerant circuits for pre-cooling the feed stream through the circulation of an expanded first mixed-refrigerant stream, and a second heat-exchange module having a liquefaction exchanger having a liquefaction circuit and a liquefaction refrigerant circuit for liquefying the feed stream through the circulation of an expanded second mixed-refrigerant stream, wherein each heat-exchange module has thermally insulating walls and a framework that allows the module to be transported and secured, and allows the first heat-exchange module to be stacked on top of the second heat-exchange module.

MIXED REFRIGERANTS IN LNG CASCADE

Methods and systems for liquefying natural gas using environmentally-friendly low combustibility refrigerants are provided. Methods of liquefaction include cooling a fluid in an LNG facility via indirect heat exchange with an environmentally-friendly low combustibility refrigerants that are propane, ethane and methane mixed with small amounts of fluorinated olefin, but still within close proximity to the boiling points of the pure refrigerants such that the mixed refrigerants can still be used in an optimized cascade process.

Integrated cascade process for vaporization and recovery of residual LNG in a floating tank application

Methods and systems for vaporizing and recovering LNG are provided. One method includes: a) heating at least a portion of the LNG to provide a boil-off gas stream and a liquid quench stream; b) routing the boil-off gas stream and the liquid quench stream to a quench system, wherein the quench system cools the boil-off gas stream to provide a quenched stream; and c) compressing the quenched stream to provide a compressed quenched stream.

Floating liquefied natural gas pretreatment system

A pretreatment system and method for a floating liquid natural gas (“FLNG”) facility are presented. The inlet natural gas stream flows through a membrane system to remove carbon dioxide and a heat exchanger, producing first and second cooled CO.sub.2-depleted non-permeate streams. The first cooled CO.sub.2-depleted non-permeate stream is routed to additional pretreatment equipment, while the second cooled CO.sub.2-depleted non-permeate stream is routed directly to a LNG train. Alternatively, the inlet natural gas stream may flow through a membrane system to produce a single cooled CO.sub.2-depleted non-permeate stream that is routed to the LNG train after sweetening and dehydration. Because the pretreatment system delivers the incoming gas stream to the LNG train at a lower temperature than conventional systems, less energy is needed to convert the gas stream to LNG. In addition, the pretreatment system has a smaller footprint than conventional pretreatment systems.

Method for liquefying natural gas and for recovering possible liquids from the natural gas, comprising two refrigerant cycles semi-open to the natural gas and a refrigerant cycle closed to the refrigerant gas

A process for liquefying a natural gas comprising a mixture of hydrocarbons predominating in methane, the process comprising a first semi-open refrigerant cycle with natural gas in which any natural gas liquids that have condensed are separated from the natural gas feed stream, which stream then passes through a main cryogenic heat exchanger (4) in order to contribute by heat exchange to pre-cooling a main natural gas stream (F-P) and to cooling an initial refrigerant gas stream (G-0), a second semi-open refrigerant cycle with natural gas for contributing to pre-cooling the natural gas and the refrigerant and also to liquefying the natural gas, and a closed refrigerant cycle with refrigerant gas for subcooling the liquefied natural gas and for delivering refrigeration power in addition to the other two cycles. The invention also provides a natural gas liquefaction installation for performing such a process.

Floating liquefied natural gas commissioning system and method

A floating liquefied natural gas (“FLNG”) commissioning system and method are described. A system for commissioning a FLNG vessel comprises a floating liquefaction vessel positioned offshore proximate a shipyard, the floating liquefaction vessel comprising a natural gas liquefaction module and a first LNG storage tank cryogenically coupled to the natural gas liquefaction module, a regasification vessel positioned alongside the floating liquefaction vessel, the regasification vessel comprising a second LNG storage tank fluidly coupled to a regasification facility onboard the regasification vessel, a high pressure natural gas conduit extending between an output of the regasification facility and an input of the liquefaction module, a cryogenic transfer member extending between the second LNG storage tank and the first LNG storage tank, and a gaseous natural gas coupling extending between the natural gas liquefaction module and one of the first LNG storage tank, the second LNG storage tank or a combination thereof.
