PROCESS AND APPARATUS FOR SUPPLYING A BACKUP GAS UNDER PRESSURE
The present invention relates to a process and a system for supplying a backup gas at a higher pressure from a source gas at a lower pressure. The backup gas at the lower pressure is at least partially condensed against a backup liquid at a higher pressure in a reprocessing heat exchanger and as a result, the backup liquid is at least partially vaporized. The backup liquid at the higher pressure is formed from boosting liquefied backup gas at the lower pressure. A backup vaporizer is disposed downstream of the reprocessing heat exchanger to completely vaporize the backup liquid at a higher pressure before it was delivered to the customer. The present invention eliminates the use of costly gas compressor and mitigates associated safety risks, in particular when the backup gas is oxygen.
Integration of Contaminant Separation and Regasification Systems
Methods and systems for cryogenically separating contaminants and regasification of LNG utilizing common refrigeration equipment and/or fuel. An integrated system includes: a component for separating contaminants from an input feed stream; a heat exchanger coupled to a first line, wherein: the first line is coupled to the component for separating contaminants, and the heat exchanger cools a first feed stream of the first line; and a LNG regasification system comprising a vaporizer, wherein: the vaporizer heats a LNG stream of the LNG regasification system, and the heat exchanger functions as the vaporizer. A process includes: separating contaminants from an input feed stream with a component for separating contaminants; cooling a first feed stream with a heat exchanger, wherein the heat exchanger is coupled to the component for separating contaminants; and heating a LNG stream with a vaporizer of a LNG regasification system, wherein the heat exchanger functions as the vaporizer.
POWER GENERATION PROCESS UTILIZING FUEL, LIQUID AIR AND/OR OXYGEN WITH ZERO CO2 EMISSIONS
A system which integrates a power production system and an energy storage system represented by gas liquefaction systems is provided.
Method and apparatus for separating a synthesis gas
In a method for separating a synthesis gas containing carbon monoxide and hydrogen, a synthesis gas flow from a synthesis gas source is compressed in a compressor and separated into at least three gaseous products. If there is insufficient synthesis gas, at least three separation products are recycled in the compressor in order to separate said products.
Method for Using a Solid-Tolerant Heat Exchanger in Cryogenic Gas Treatment Processes
Methods and systems for removing contaminants, such as water and/or carbon dioxide, from a gas stream, such as a natural gas stream or a flue gas stream. One or more solid-tolerant heat exchangers are employed to chill the gas stream to a temperature at which the contaminants solidify. The solidified contaminants may then be separated and removed from the gas stream. In one or more aspects, the one or more solid-tolerant heat exchangers may include a scraped heat exchanger.
METHOD FOR SEPARATING A SYNTHESIS GAS
A method for separating a synthesis gas containing carbon monoxide and hydrogen including compressing a flow of synthesis gas received from a source of synthesis gas in a compressor, purifying the compressed synthesis gas in a purification unit to purify it of water and/or carbon dioxide, cooling the compressed and purified flow of synthesis gas, separating the cooled flow of synthesis gas by washing and/or distillation at a cryogenic temperature and optionally by adsorption in a separating unit, and producing at least the following three gases in the separating unit: a carbon monoxide-enriched gas, a hydrogen-enriched gas, a residual gas containing carbon monoxide and hydrogen that is less pure with respect to carbon monoxide than the carbon monoxide-enriched gas and less pure with respect to hydrogen than the hydrogen-enriched gas.
Method and apparatus for separating a carbon dioxide-rich gas
In a purification method, a carbon dioxide-rich gas is cooled in a first brazed aluminum plate-fin heat exchanger, the cooled gas or at least one fluid derived from the cooled gas is sent to a purification step comprising a distillation step, the purification step produces a carbon dioxide-rich liquid which is cooled, then expanded, then sent to a second heat exchanger where it is heated by means of a fluid of the method, the exchanger carrying out an indirect heat exchange only between the carbon dioxide-rich liquid and the fluid of the method, the carbon dioxide-rich liquid at least partially vaporizes in the second exchanger and the vaporized gas formed heats up again in the first exchanger to form a carbon dioxide-rich gas.
Method and apparatus for purifying a carbon dioxide-rich mixture at a low temperature
A carbon dioxide-rich mixture is cooled in a first brazed aluminum plate-fin heat exchanger, at least one fluid derived from the cooled mixture is sent to a purification step having a distillation step and/or at least two successive partial condensation steps, the purification step produces a carbon dioxide-depleted gas which heats up again in the first exchanger, the purification step produces a carbon-dioxide rich liquid which is expanded, then sent to a second heat exchanger where it is heated by means of a fluid of the method, the exchanger carrying out an indirect heat exchange only between the carbon dioxide-rich liquid and the fluid of the method, the carbon dioxide-rich liquid at least partially vaporizes in the second exchanger and the vaporized gas formed heats up again in the first exchanger to form a carbon dioxide-rich gas which can be the end product of the method.
