AIR SEPARATION APPARATUS
An air separation apparatus comprises: a first rectification column, a first condensing portion, a second rectification column, a third rectification column, a second condensing portion, a fourth rectification column, a third condensing portion, and a recycling pipe for recycling a gas drawn from the third condensing portion to the second rectification column. The air separation apparatus furthermore comprises: a branch pipe branching from the recycling pipe; and a control unit for controlling opening/closing of a valve so that a gas drawn from the third condensing portion is fed to the branch pipe for a predetermined period from the start of driving of the third condensing portion, and for controlling opening/closing of the valve so that the gas drawn from the third condensing portion is fed to the recycling pipe after the predetermined period has elapsed.
METHOD FOR STARTING UP AN ARGON SEPARATION COLUMN OF AN APPARATUS FOR AIR SEPARATION BY CRYOGENIC DISTILLATION AND UNIT FOR IMPLEMENTING THE METHOD
A unit for producing argon by cryogenic distillation, suitable for connection to a double air separation column consisting of first and second columns interconnected thermally, comprises an argon separation column surmounted with a top condenser and a denitrogenation column, means for withdrawing an argon-rich and nitrogen-depleted product (LAR) at the bottom of the denitrogenation column, means for connecting the top of the argon separation column to the denitrogenation column, means for sending a top gas from the argon separation column to the atmosphere, means for withdrawing a nitrogen-rich fluid from the top of the denitrogenation column, an analyser for measuring the nitrogen content at the top of the argon separation column, and means for opening and closing the means for connecting the top of the argon separation column to the denitrogenation column depending on the nitrogen content detected by the analyser.
Method for argon production via cold pressure swing adsorption
Methods and systems for purifying argon from a crude argon stream are disclosed, employing pressure swing adsorption at cold temperatures from 186 C. to 20 C.; more preferably from 150 C. to 50 C.; and most preferably from 130 C. to 80 C. with oxygen-selective zeolite adsorbent. In some embodiments, the oxygen-selective zeolite adsorbent is a 4A zeolite, a chabazite, or a combination thereof.
METHOD FOR THE CRYOGENIC SEPARATION OF AIR, AND AIR SEPARATION PLANT
A method for the cryogenic separation of air, in which method an air separation plant with a rectification column arrangement is used, which plant has a pressure column, a low-pressure column, a raw argon column and pure argon column. In the method, evaporation gas from a head gas condensation device associated with the raw argon column is partially or completely fed into the low-pressure column in a first feed-in region, whereas evaporation gas from a head gas condensation device associated with the pure argon column and excess liquid from this head gas condensation device are partially or completely fed into the low-pressure column in a shared second feed-in region. In one embodiment, flash gas forming during the expansion of cooling fluid into the head gas condensation device associated with the raw argon column can be partially or completely fed into the low-pressure column in the second feed-in region.
System and method for production of crude argon by cryogenic rectification of air
A system and method for producing argon that uses a higher pressure column, a lower pressure column, and an argon column collectively configured to produce nitrogen, oxygen and argon products through the cryogenic separation of air. The present system and method also employs a once through argon condensing assembly that is disposed entirely within the lower pressure column that is configured to condense an argon rich vapor stream from the argon column against the oxygen-enriched liquid from the higher pressure column to produce an argon liquid product. The control system is configured for optimizing the production of argon product by ensuring an even flow split of the oxygen-enriched liquid is distributed to the argon condenser cores and by adjusting the flow rate of the argon removed from the argon condensing assembly to maintain the liquid/vapor balance in the argon condensing assembly within appropriate limits.
AIR FRACTIONATION PLANT, OPERATING METHOD AND CONTROL FACILITY
An air fractionation plant in which a cooling water circuit having a recooling apparatus is provided for cooling compressed air, where the recooling apparatus is configured for cooling cooling water using cooling air. The recooling apparatus is configured so as to cool the cooling water, at least at a wet bulb temperature of the cooling air of more than 289 K, to a temperature which is not more than 3 K above the wet bulb temperature. A corresponding operating method and a control facility are likewise provided.
