According to the invention, the device comprises at least one heating element for heating the casing in operation, the heating element being arranged inside at least one of the walls of the casing. The invention also relates to a corresponding method.
LIGNOCELLULOSIC FOAM COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS OF MAKING THEREOF
The present invention includes methods of making a nanocellulosic composition comprising one or more nanocellulosic components, wherein the one or more nanocellulosic components comprise a micron-scale cellulose or cellulose nanofibrils (CNF), the method comprising the steps of: creating a nanocellulosic slurry by combining the one or more of nanocellulosic components with a liquid component; and exposing the nanocellulosic slurry to a drying condition, wherein the drying condition comprises microwave radiation, thereby creating a nanocellulosic composition. The present invention also includes compositions comprising cellulose (nanocellulosic compositions), wherein the nanocellulosic compositions have an internal void space of about 5% to about 95% by volume.
PROCESS AND APPARATUS FOR MULTI-PHASE EXTRACTION OF ACTIVE SUBSTANCES FROM BIOMASS
A method for performing a multi-phase extraction of plant biomass to obtain active substances is provided. The method uses a novel freeze-dry extraction technique to obtain a volatile terpene fraction from frozen plant material. In particular, the method disclosed provides terpene extracts with compositions that strongly resemble that of the parent plant material.
Organic waste management system
A liquification system for an organic waste management system includes a hopper that is oriented vertically such that organic waste added to the hopper is biased by gravity toward a bottom end of the hopper; a fixed grinding plate disposed at the bottom end of the hopper and including grinding elements for grinding and liquefying organic waste; an agitator that is disposed within the hopper and is movable relative to the grinding plate in a first rotational direction that moves organic waste downward toward and against the grinding plate and in a second rotational direction that moves organic waste upward toward a top end of the hopper; a motor configured to selectively move the agitator in the first and second rotational directions under control of the controller; and an outlet through the bottom end of the hopper through which liquified organic waste drains from the hopper.
ELECTROHYDRODYNAMIC DRYING OF MOIST POROUS MATERIALS
An electrohydrodynamic (EHD) drying apparatus includes a non-uniform electric field resulting from an electric field source operable for a high potential, and an electric field source operable for a low potential. A power source is connected to the electric field sources for producing the non uniform electric field for inducing dielectrophoresis (DEP) in an article within the uniform electric field. In particular configurations, the applied non-uniform electric field is for separating a vapor phase being formed during drying from the liquid phase. The electric field source defines a polarizer adapted to produce dielectrophoresis, and the electric field induces coupled electrostatics and momentum for disposing liquid towards the high electric field for drying.
USER-REMOVABLE, ELECTRICALLY HEATED, AND MECHANICALLY ACTUATED BUCKET UNIT FOR ORGANIC MATTER PROCESSING APPARATUS
Embodiments disclosed herein provide a bucket assembly and method of use thereof. The bucket assembly is a relatively lightweight and removable apparatus that can fracture cut, paddle, and heat contents contained therein. The bucket assembly can include a housing that has a curved metal plate and blade array attached thereto. A cut and paddle assembly can rotate within the housing and interface with the blade array to fracture cut contents contained therein. The cut and paddle assembly is also operative to mix the contents to ensure full dispersal within the housing. A flexible heater array is attached to and operative to heat the curved metal plate. The combination of the fracture cutting, paddling, and heating can convert organic matter to a ground and selectively desiccated product.
APPARATUS FOR PROCESSING ORGANIC MATTER HAVING LID AND AIR TREATMENT SYSTEM PROMOTING PLEASANT USER EXPERIENCE
Embodiments disclosed herein provide an organic matter processing apparatus and method for the use thereof to convert organic matter into a ground and desiccated product. The organic matter processing apparatus includes a lid assembly that is positioned at the top or head of the processing apparatus and an air treatment system. The lid assembly is operative to open to allow a user to deposit organic matter into the processing apparatus or to remove a removable bucket contained therein. The lid assembly is operative to close and provide an odor containing seal that prevents or substantially mitigates escape of odor. The air treatment system uniformly distributes untreated air through an air treatment chamber to convert the untreated air to treated air, which is exhausted out of the processing apparatus.
HOT AIR CIRCULATING FOOD WASTE DRYER
The present invention relates to a food waste dryer comprising: a main body in which a drying space is formed so that a portion thereof is open to the outside; a front door for closing the open portion of the main body; a drying basket which is disposed in the drying space of the main body and in which food is accommodated; an air circulation unit which includes a heater capable of heating the air of the drying space, and which suctions the air inside the drying space, and then blows, at the food waste, the air heated by the heater so as dry the food waste; a circulation pipe capable of discharging, to the outside through an exhaust pipe, the air that includes steam vaporized during a food waste drying process, and recirculating, to the drying space through a blowing pipe, the air heated by the heater; and a deodorizing device mounted on the outside of the main body so as to adsorb odor particles from the air discharged to the outside through the circulation pipe, thereby enabling the air to be deodorized, wherein the deodorizing device includes a deodorant comprising activated carbon and zeolite. According to the present invention, a fixed amount of steam, which is generated by vaporization and evaporation during the food waste drying process, is maintained, and the adsorption and deodorization performance of the odor particles can be improved.
