Method for heating a blank and heating system
A method for manufacturing a steel component from a blank is provided. Firstly, a blank is placed in a conveyor system. Then, at least a preselected zone of the blank is preheated while the blank is retained at a predetermined preheating location. Finally, the blank is conveyed through a furnace. A preheating system for heating blanks in a production line is also provided.

Conveying through furnaces
A conveyor unit for moving products in a conveying direction is disclosed. The unit comprises first beams extending along the conveying direction substantially parallel to each other. The first beams are slidably mounted on rollers and are displaceable in a back-and-forth reciprocating motion along the conveying direction between an upstream position and a downstream position. The unit further comprises second beams extending along the conveying direction and arranged interleaved with the first beams. The second beams are configured to be displaceable in an up-and-down reciprocating motion between a lower vertical position and an upper vertical position along a vertical direction that is defined in a plane substantially perpendicular to a plane of the conveying direction, wherein an upper working surface of the first beams is positioned along the vertical direction, between the lower vertical position and the upper vertical position.
FURNACE WITH MOVABLE BEAM LOAD HANDLING SYSTEM
Furnace with movable beam load handling system, in particular for heating or heat treatment of ferrous or non-ferrous metallic material, comprising:—a furnace chamber extending between a furnace-loading section and a furnace-unloading section of the material along a longitudinal direction;—first beams, arranged inside said chamber and defining a plurality of main supports for the material to be treated in said chamber,—second beams, arranged inside said chamber and defining a plurality of temporary supports for the material, wherein said second beams are cyclically movable with respect to the first beams so as to impart to said material a movement between said furnace-loading section and said furnace-unloading section having a motion component parallel to said longitudinal direction.
Oxy-fuel combustion system and method for melting a pelleted charge material
A system for melting a pelleted charge material including a furnace having a feed end configured to receive a solid pelleted charge material and a discharge end opposite the feed end configured to discharge a molten charge material and a slag, a conveyor configured to feed the pelleted charge material into the feed end of the furnace, at least one oxy-fuel burner positioned to direct heat into a melting zone near the feed end to heat and at least partially melt the pelleted charge material to form the molten charge material and slag, wherein the oxy-fuel burner uses an oxidant having at least 70% molecular oxygen, and at least one flue for exhausting burner combustion products from the furnace.

Walking-beam type heating furnace
In a heating furnace 10 where elongate workpieces fed into the heating furnace are sequentially transferred on fixed beams by walking beams from an inlet area to an outlet area, concaves to retain the workpieces are formed at least on the walking beams. A concave in the inlet area for heating the workpieces is increased in width in a transfer direction, while a concave in the outlet area where the heated workpieces are wholly heated to a uniform temperature and retained in position is formed in a corrugated configuration. Despite curving of an elongate workpiece being heat treated as transferred by walking beams in a direction crossing a longitudinal direction of the workpiece, this ensures that the curved workpiece is properly transferred and adequately corrected for the curving.
