A sheet-shaped heat pipe includes a sheet-shaped container, a wick sealed in the container, and a working fluid sealed in the container, the sheet-shaped container including a first metal sheet and a second metal sheet, the first metal sheet and the second metal sheet being superposed in direct contact with each other at a peripheral edge portion, and the sheet-shaped container having a thickness of about 0.5 mm or less, and a thin heat dissipating plate that includes the sheet-shaped heat pipe.
Device for drying a gas, in particular air
A drying device for processing a gas to be dried, in particular air, comprises an air/air exchanger which includes an inlet for the gas to be dried and an outlet for the dried gas, an evaporator which receives the gas to be dried from the air/air exchanger, the evaporator being formed by means of a plurality of adjacent layers. The layers comprise at least a first layer configured for the passage of a refrigerating fluid, at least a second layer configured to receive the gas to be dried from the air/air exchanger and a plurality of third layers configured to receive a phase change material. The layers are arranged in a sequence which comprises in alternation a first layer, a third layer, a second layer and a further third layer.
THERMAL GROUND PLANE
A thermal ground plane comprises top and bottom layers that are substantially impervious to fluid and together defining an inner space, a vapour transport mesh layer having a relatively coarse mesh structure and located within said space, and at least one liquid transport mesh layer having a relatively fine mesh structure and located between said vapour transport mesh layer and one of said top and bottom layers, the two said mesh layers being in contact with one another across substantially their entire planar extents. The top and bottom layers are sealed with a substantially fluid tight seal, and said inner space contains a liquid and is partially evacuated.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR HEAT STORAGE
The invention provides an energy storage apparatus comprising a crucible having a cavity and a channel, a phase change material stored in the cavity of the crucible and a heat exchanger having an inlet and an outlet, wherein at least a portion of the heat exchanger is disposed along the channel. Also provided are methods of reversibly storing and/or extracting energy, and an energy storage array comprising a plurality of energy storage apparatus as described above.

A heating system including a heat pump; a thermal battery loop including a thermal battery and a pump configured to circulate a working fluid through the thermal battery; a fluid conductor for receiving the first fluid at an inlet at a first temperature and delivering the first fluid at a second temperature; a first heat exchanger configured to thermally couple the heat pump and the fluid conductor at a first location of the fluid conductor; a second heat exchanger configured to thermally couple the thermal battery loop and the heat pump; and a third heat exchanger configured to thermally couple the thermal battery and the fluid conductor at a second location of the fluid conductor, wherein the second location of the fluid conductor is a location downstream from the first location of the fluid conductor between the inlet and the outlet of the fluid conductor.
SMART PHASE CHANGE COMPOSITE FOR PASSIVE THERMAL MANAGEMENT
A thermal management apparatus and method of use, such as in a battery pack or electronic device. A thermally responsive material is disposed between two surfaces, wherein the thermally responsive material changes upon heating, to increase a thermal conductance between the two surfaces. The thermally responsive material is offset from one of the surfaces and expands upon heating to connect the two surfaces. The thermally responsive material is a phase change composite including a phase change material selected from a paraffin wax, a hydrated salt, and combinations thereof.
ELEMENT FOR A THERMAL ENERGY STORAGE
An element for an easily scalable thermal energy storage, distinctive in that the element includes an outer shell being a combined casting form and reinforcement, a solid thermal storage medium in the form of hardened concrete, which concrete has been cast and hardened into said outer shell. A method for building and use of the element is also disclosed.

A heat exchange apparatus for cooling water of a fuel cell includes a body, through which a cooling water pipe having cooling water flowing therethrough to be supplied to a fuel cell stack, passes; and a heat accumulator provided in an interior of the body and filled with a PCM heat accumulation material that exchanges heat with the cooling water. The body includes a medium space provided between the cooling water pipe and the heat accumulator such that the heat accumulator is spaced apart from the cooling water pipe. The PCM heat accumulation material exchanges heat with the cooling water by a medium of the medium space.
