Retained strong header for heat exchanger
A heat exchanger includes a fluid reservoir having a peripherally extending foot, a header having a mounting tab bent to engage the foot of the fluid reservoir to couple the header to the fluid reservoir, and a retaining feature configured to prevent disengagement of the mounting tab of the header from the foot of the fluid reservoir. The retaining feature overlays at least a portion of an outer surface of the mounting tab while otherwise restrained by a portion of the fluid reservoir in order to prevent the disengagement of the mounting tab from the foot.
Hemofilter for in vivo blood filtration
Hemofilters for in vivo filtration of blood are disclosed. The hemofilters disclosed herein provide an optimal flow of blood through the filtration channels while maintaining a pressure gradient across the filtration channel walls to enhance filtration and minimize turbulence and stagnation of blood in the hemofilter.
Heat exchanger
A tube type heat exchanger includes a core includes multiple tubes, a header plate defining an array of apertures in which said tubes are received, and a coolant jacket arranged about said core. The header plate includes a body defining a central region and an edge region circumferential to said central region. The central region defines said array of apertures. The edge region includes a flange. The header plate is connected to the coolant jacket via first and second contact areas between the header plate and the coolant jacket. The flange is outboard of the coolant jacket. The first contact area is between the flange and the coolant jacket; and the second contact area is inboard of the first contact area.
Heat exchanger heat transfer plate
A plate for a heat exchanger has a longitudinal centerline, a reference plane parallel to the longitudinal centerline, and multiple corrugations provided in the plate that define flow channels through which fluid flows. The corrugations extend at an angle to the reference plane and at least some of the corrugations are intersected by the reference plane, wherein over at least a portion of a surface area of the plate the corrugations are arranged in sub-regions that have a longitudinal length and the corrugations of each sub region are at the same angle relative to the longitudinal centerline, and the corrugations of adjacent sub-regions are at different angles from each other, and wherein the corrugations in adjacent sub-regions meet at junctions and the junctions are not longitudinally aligned.
High pressure capable liquid to refrigerant heat exchanger
A liquid to refrigerant heat exchanger includes an enclosed coolant volume that is at least partially defined by a plastic housing and by a metal closure plate. The metal closure plate can be part of a brazed assembly containing a continuous refrigerant flow path. The refrigerant flow path is disposed within the coolant volume, where heat can be transferred between the refrigerant within the refrigerant flow path and the liquid within the coolant volume. The plastic housing can at least partially surround the refrigerant flow path to at least partially bound a liquid flow path along a portion of the coolant volume. An inlet diffuser and an outlet diffuser can be mounted to the housing to direct the liquid through the housing. The plastic housing is sealingly joined to the closure plate along an outer periphery of the closure plate.
