A firearm release apparatus comprises a carriage with a rail that supports an end block fixed to a proximal end of the rail and adapted to releasably nest with the hammer end of a handgun. At least one spring member joins the proximal end block to a distal block that is adapted to cup the barrel end of a handgun. The gap width between the proximal end block and the distal end block is adjustable because the distal block is movable away from or toward the proximal end block depending on the tension applied to the at least one spring member. A handgun is mountable between the end blocks. A spring exerts force against an end of the rail such that when triggered, the carriage is ejected from an enclosure and the handgun is presented to a user in a ready state where the handgun grip is circumferentially free of obstructions.

Thumb-actuated locking holster

A holster for receiving and withdrawing a handgun has a proximal wall portion with a handgun retention mechanism thereon. The mechanism having a first lever with a tab portion for actuation and release of a trigger guard, the lever having a snap fit into a lever region without a separate pin. A belt engaging member covers the lever region capturing the first lever therein. If a second retention mechanism is used, another lever with a tab portion is positioned so the tabs are stacked, depressing one also depresses the tab behind it, such that both mechanisms are released. Overmolded polymer layers in the holster body provides a softer interior handgun engagement surfaces. The holster body is split forwardly with a threaded fastener for clamping onto the handgun. No holster body is beneath or rearward of the tab portion, configured as a thumb button, allowing smooth transition to gripping the handgun.

A firearm retention mechanism is provided for a holster. The device comprises first and second arms that each have a first end and a second end, outwardly extending retention elements and trigger guard stops, and a fastener which connects the first and second arms so that they define an open top, with the retention elements and trigger guard stops facing one another, the trigger guard stops located below the retention elements. The arms are connected to sides of the holster with the open top facing upwardly to receive a trigger guard of the firearm, which is then pressed between the retention elements.

Rotatable holster

A mounting assembly for securing a holster to a user that permits a holstered weapon to be rotated from a normal, dominant-hand accessible position to a reversed position more easily accessible to a non-dominant hand. The assembly includes a first portion that is securable to a user and a second portion hingedly connected to the first portion in a manner allowing rotation about a generally upstanding axis. The second portion is rotatable between a normal position which enables the user to draw the weapon using a dominant hand and a reversed position in which the holster is rotated to enable the user to conveniently draw the weapon using an off-hand. The assembly includes provisions to restrain the second portion in one or more predetermined orientations, biasing mechanisms to rotate the second portion when released, and latching mechanism to prevent inadvertent or unintended rotation of a holstered weapon.

A modular firearm protection and alignment assembly and method of operation integrates with a firearm holster to align and protect the firearm. The assembly is arranged, such that a firearm is centrally aligned, and provided with a fixed stopping point in the holster. An upper base includes a platform defined by a protruding alignment member that projects upwardly from the platform. The platform serves as a barrier to prevent the firearm from sliding beyond a predetermined point into the holster. The protruding alignment member projects from the bottom of the holster to receive, and concentrically align, the barrel of the firearm with the holster. A lower base joins with the upper base through use of a fastening mechanism. The lower base has an elongated panel that couples to the upper base, and a circular panel that protects light accessories mounted on the firearm, and drains fluids from the holster.
