AMMUNITION COMPONENT AND METHOD OF FORMING SAME
A grinding/polishing unit operation for rendering a mirror finish and precise tolerance to the base of an ammunition article. A diamond wheel is used in a live tooling operation where the diamond wheel has a mating profile to the base to be ground/polished. Bases can be prepared from bar stock or pre-existing bases can be treated to enhance magazine loading ease, ejection ease post firing and a reduction in the tendency for spent propellant residue from accreting on the bases. Several embodiments for the unit operation are disclosed.

Ammunition Cartridge Casing and Method
An ammunition cartridge casing is provided having a primer body and a casing body. The primer body has an inner primer portion and an outer primer portion configured to nest in conformance with an outer surface of the inner primer portion. The outer surface of the inner primer portion provides a circumferential trench having a radially outwardly extending circumferential wall portion contiguous with an axially extending circumferential wall portion. The casing body has a distal end portion and a proximal end portion. The proximal end portion of the casing body is interposed between the inner primer portion and the outer primer portion within the trench having an interlocked axially extending circumferential portion and an interlocked radially outwardly extending disc portion of the casing body entrapped between the inner primer portion and the outer primer portion. A method is also provided.

Cartridge and cartridge case
A cartridge includes a cartridge case having a shell having a first end portion, a second end portion opposite the first end portion and a cylindrical body extending from the first end portion to the second end portion. A reinforcing cap includes a base, a sidewall extending from the base and surrounding the first end portion such that the first edge of the shell abuts an inner face of the base, and a projection extending from the inner face. A ring is pressed against the inner face and forms an air-tight seal between the projection, the inner face, the ring, and the first end portion of the shell. A plurality of indentations form protrusions in the sidewall and the first end portion for interlocking the reinforcing cap to the shell and retaining the ring against the inner face of the base.

Method for producing multi-component cases
The invention relates to a method for producing cases, in which a case sleeve is formed from thin sheets, forming at least one element over an insert, a form or a cavity reproducing the conicity, the shoulder and the mouth that are characteristic of the case. The invention also relates to a product produced by the method, such as an ammunition case.
