Magnetic encoder manufacturing method
A magnetic encoder in which a support member and a plastic magnet do not adhere to each other is manufactured using a mold. The plastic magnet has a turning molded portion on the outer circumferential side thereof. The gate of the mold is an inner-diameter-side disk gate and a length L thereof in the axial direction is in a range of 0.2 mm≤L≤0.6 mm. The tensile strength of the material of the plastic magnet is 65 MPa or more and the Young's modulus thereof is 4000 MPa or more and 15000 MPa or less. The method includes a step of opening the mold and placing the support member as an insert object in the mold, and a step of closing the mold and injecting a melted material of the plastic magnet into a cavity through the disk gate.
Magnetic encoding for smart position sensor range extension
Apparatus and associated methods relate to cascaded sets of two or more individual permanent magnets distributed in a predetermined spatial relationship on a source carrier configured to translate proximate two or more magnetic field sensors distributed in a predetermined spatial relationship on a reference carrier. In an illustrative example, the permanent magnets may be arranged in at least two predetermined orientations. For example, each of the permanent magnets may direct its field in a predetermined orientation to produce a unique output code from a set of the magnetic field sensors. The output code may, for example, uniquely identify a relative position between the source carrier and the reference carrier. The magnetic field sensors may be, for example, anisotropic magneto-resistive elements. Cascaded sets of permanent magnets may cost-effectively increase the dynamic range of the relative position between the source carrier and the reference carrier by adding additional magnetic targets.

Sensor for a Magnetic Measuring Device
A sensor for a magnetic measuring device for detecting a rotational or translational movement of a body includes a permanent magnet which is connected to the body for conjoint rotation and which moves with the body. The sensor is fastened to a body by a method, and the sensor can be used in a magnetic measuring device for contactlessly detecting a rotational movement of a body. Plastic-bonded permanent magnet material is injection-molded onto the body, acting as an extension thereof, and forms a free end of the body acting as a permanent magnet.

The disc comprises a first magnetic ring with m magnetic pole pairs, and a second magnetic ring with n magnetic pole pairs, where m and n are co-prime, and a mounting arrangement by which the disc is mountable to a magnetisation jig during manufacture and the articulated structure during operation, the mounting arrangement permitting the disc to be mounted to the magnetisation jig and articulated structure in a single orientation only. The magnetic sensor assembly comprises a first magnetic sensor array for detecting the magnetic pole pairs of the first magnetic ring, and a second magnetic sensor array for detecting the magnetic pole pairs of the second magnetic ring.
Sensor system for rotation angular detection and 3D joystick function
A sensor system and a joystick including the sensor system. The sensor system comprises a magnetic field sensor, and first and second magnetic sources. The first magnetic source is rotatable relative to a sensitive surface of the sensor and generates a first magnetic field contribution of at least quadrupolar order. The second magnetic source is pivotable with respect to the sensitive surface and generates a second magnetic field contribution. The sensor is configured for detecting at least an in-plane component of a superimposition field of the first and second magnetic contributions at a plurality of lateral measurement locations on the sensitive surface, obtaining measurements, and determining a rotation angle for the first source from the field gradient measurements and two angular directions for the second source from the field mean measurements. Lateral measurement locations are arranged into two pairs of diametrically opposite measurement locations with respect to the sensitive surface.
