Providing a fast response to a process step while allowing a sensor response to remain relatively slow. A mechanical component generates a response to a step change in a physical property and an electrical component generates an analog electrical signal indicative of the response generated by the mechanical component over a period of time. The analog electrical signal is converted into digital values and the digital values are used to indicate the final value of the step change in the physical property before the period of time has elapsed.

Environmental Sensor

A controller for an environmental sensor provides digital environmental measurement values from analog environmental measurements performed by analog circuitry, the digital environmental measurement values lying in a global scale range. The controller subjects the global scale range to a subdivision into scale subranges that are proper subranges of the global scale range. The controller selects, among the scale subranges, one scale subrange in which an analog environmental measurement is to be performed, selects an offset information and a gain information that are associated with the selected scale subrange and that are indicative of an offset and a gain to be applied by the analog circuitry to perform an analog environmental measurement in the selected scale subrange, and to provide the offset information and the gain information to the analog circuitry.

A pressure detection structure and an electronic device are provided that improve sensitivity and accuracy of pressure detection. The pressure detection structure includes: N piezo-resistors connected at the first dielectric layer to form a Wheatstone bridge, where an opening of a first cavity is provided on the first surface of the substrate. The two ends, in a first direction, of the vertical projection of a first piezo-resistor among the N piezo-resistors on a contact surface between the N piezo-resistors and the first dielectric layer are located respectively on the two sides, in the first direction, of the vertical projection of the first cavity on the contact surface. The long side of a second piezo-resistor among the N piezo-resistors is perpendicular to the first direction, and the vertical projection of the second piezo-resistor on the contact surface does not overlap with the vertical projection of the first cavity.

Apparatus and Method for the Detection of Properties of a Pipe There is described herein a system for determining one or more properties of a pipe, the system comprising an attachment pad, at least one sensor configured to be coupled to the outside of a pipe wall, wherein the attachment pad is configured to overlie one or more of the at least one sensor such that the one or more sensor may be positioned between the pipe and the attachment pad, and to prevent slippage of the one or more sensor on the pipe. There is also described an attachment pad, a sensor, and a pipe.

Condition detection of pressure transmitter diaphragm

A material property sensor for a pressure transmitter comprises a sensing pattern immersed in a fill fluid. The pressure transmitter comprises a diaphragm configured for contact with a process fluid at an exterior surface of the diaphragm. The pressure transmitter further comprises a pressure sensor configured for sensing a pressure of the process fluid on the diaphragm. The pressure sensor and the diaphragm define a cavity within which the fill fluid is disposed such that the diaphragm of the pressure sensor is in contact with the fill fluid at an interior surface of the diaphragm. The sensing pattern is immersed in the fill fluid within the cavity and configured to measure an electrical property of the fill fluid at an initial time and at one or more subsequent times during operation of the pressure transmitter.

Pressure sensor systems that include a pressure sensor die and other components in a small, space-efficient package, where the package allow gas or liquid to reach either or both sides of a membranes of the pressure sensor die. A package can include a substrate and a cap, where either or both the substrate and the cap divide the package internally into two chambers. The substrate can have a solid bottom layer, a middle layer having a slot or path running a portion of the length of the layer, and a top layer having two through-holes that provide access to the slot or path. The cap can have two ports. A first port can lead to a first chamber where a top side of a pressure sensor is in the first chamber. A second port can lead to a second chamber and the slot or path, where the slot or path leads to a bottom side of the pressure sensor.
