Flow Regulation Device for Volatile and Semi-Volatile Sampling Onto Adsorbent Media
A flow regulation device for volatile and semi-volatile sampling onto adsorbent media is provided. The flow regulation device includes a housing having an inlet, an outlet, a secondary inlet that is open to the ambient, a real time flow meter, a controller in electronic communication with the flow meter, and a three-way valve. Gas is drawn through the adsorbent media, into the inlet, and then to the outlet by a vacuum source joined to the outlet. The controller is configured to: (1) actuate the three-way valve to put the vacuum source in-line with the inlet; (2) continuously monitor the flow of gas through the inlet and calculate the time necessary to sample a pre-set volume of gas; and (3) after the pre-set volume of gas passes through the inlet, actuate the three-way valve to put the vacuum source in-line with the secondary inlet.
SYSTEM AND METHOD OF GAS SAMPLING FOR TRACE-LEVEL ANALYSIS OF CHEMICAL COMPOUNDS
A hybrid gas sampling device can combine the functionality of both whole air and sorbent based samplers. The sampling device can be used for collecting light to very heavy organic compounds, for subsequent thermal desorption into a GC or GCMS for quantitative measurement. The sampling device isolates collected samples of gas phase matrices in a sample vessel, provided with sorbent elements from a removable sample extraction device. The sampling device is operated by drawing a vacuum on the chamber through the sample extraction device after sampling, and then completing the extraction of the heavier organic compounds using a static, diffusive extraction under vacuum to allow optimal deposition of the heavier compounds on the sorbent. The vacuum container is cooled to draw any excess water back into the container, thereby dehydrating attached sorbent element(s) in preparation for thermal desorption into a GC or GCMS, eliminating interferences in the MS analyzer.
Air sampling actuator and associated method
An air sampling actuator and associated method are disclosed. The air sampling actuator may include a housing configured to mount on a canister, a motor configured to be accommodated in the housing, and an adaptor. The motor may generate a mechanical action, in response to a control signal received by the motor. The adaptor may be coupled to the motor, and configured to interface with a valve-controlling knob of the canister. In a first configuration of the air sampling actuator, the adaptor may be uncoupled from the valve-controlling knob of the canister, and the hook portion may be unengaged with the canister. In a second configuration of the air sampling actuator, the adaptor may be coupled with the valve-controlling knob of the canister, and the hook portion may be engaged with the canister.
Air testing collector
A process for testing an air source by providing a bag to collect a sample of gas. Connecting the filled bag to a collector assembly that has a fraction of the interior volume of the bag. Forcing the air sample from the bag over a media dish inside the collector assembly. Removing the media for further analysis. Both the bag and the collector assembly have one way exhaust valves to prevent over-pressure and allow a limited flow through of the sample.
The adaptor may be coupled to the motor and configured to interface with a valve-controlling knob of the canister.
Gas measuring apparatus for secondary battery
A gas measuring apparatus for a secondary battery comprises: a chamber accommodating a secondary battery therein; a heater unit applying heat to the chamber to ignite the secondary battery accommodated in the chamber; a collection tube connected to the inside of the chamber to collect a gas generated in the secondary battery; a vacuum unit connected to the collection tube to vacuumize the inside of the chamber so as to introduce the gas into the collection tube; and a gas measuring unit measuring an amount of gas introduced into the collection tube.
