An apparatus for detecting matter including: a light source arrangement adapted to emit a first and a second set of light beams towards a first detection zone through which the matter is provided. A spectroscopy system adapted to receive and analyse light which is reflected and/or scattered by matter in the first detection zone. A laser triangulation system including, a laser arrangement adapted to emit a line of laser light towards a second detection zone. A camera-based sensor arrangement configured to receive and analyse light which is reflected and/or scattered by matter in the second detection zone. The received light of the spectroscopy system completely or partially intersects the received light of the camera-based sensor arrangement and/or the line of laser light.
OPTICAL INTERROGATION SYSTEM AND METHOD
The optical interrogation technique can use an optical prism having two opposite sides including a sample side and a refraction side, the sample side having a plurality of interrogation areas; a source assembly generating a collimated field of illumination directed towards the refraction side; a screen disposed in a screen plane intersecting the field of illumination and shielding the refraction side from the field of illumination, the screen having an aperture allowing a portion of the field of illumination to reach and be refracted by the refraction side, be totally internally reflected at one of said interrogation areas of the sample side, thereby generating a signal, the signal refracted back through the aperture, the screen being movable within the screen plane to shift the aperture and expose different portions of the field of illumination to corresponding ones of the interrogation areas.

MICROSCOPE WITH SPATIAL IMAGING AND BEAM HOMOGENIZER
The inventions provide microscopes for imaging samples within wells of multi-well plates. Microscopes of the disclosure include a beam homogenizer system that shapes a beam from a light source into a shape specific to the bottom of a well of a multi-well plate. In particular, microscopes of the disclosure can illuminate wells for imaging by passing light through a prism that is beneath the sample. The light enters the prism from the side and as refracted into the well at a steep angle such that the light only illuminates about a bottom ten microns of the well. The beam homogenizer shapes the light from the light source so that, instead of hitting the prism as a spot with an irregular shape, the light enters the prism in a substantially rectangular pattern with homogeneous optical power level over the pattern.
Apparatus and method for automatically recovering breast fillets from poultry carcasses or parts thereof
An apparatus for automatically recovering breast fillets from poultry bodies or parts thereof has a conveying device to continuously convey the poultry bodies in a conveying direction. The conveying device has receiving elements to hold and convey the poultry bodies along a processing path. Processing stations are arranged on the processing path and the stations include at least a furcula-removal station and a breast fillet detaching station. At least one measuring device is arranged on the processing path downstream of the breast fillet detaching station. The poultry bodies held by the receiving elements are conveyed past the measuring device such that the sternum of the poultry bodies is oriented at least substantially transversely to the conveying direction with the breast side facing the measuring device. The measuring device has a scanning element to mechanically scan the poultry bodies on the breast side. A corresponding method is also provided.
System and method for measuring serum phosphate levels using portable reader device
A portable colorimetric assay system includes an opto-mechanical reader configured to be detachably mounted to a mobile phone having a camera or other camera-containing portable electronic device. The opto-mechanical reader includes one or more light sources configured to illuminate a test sample holder and control sample holder disposed in the opto-mechanical reader along an optical path aligned with a camera of the mobile phone or other camera-containing portable electronic device. One or more serum separation membranes are disposed in the opto-mechanical reader and define a sample receiving pad configured to receive a blood sample. A moveable serum collection membrane is membrane is also disposed in the reader and is configured to contact the sample receiving pad in a first position and moveable to a second position where the serum collection membrane is disposed inside the test sample holder.

The present invention relates to a measuring device having a structure for adjusting inclination of an observation surface of a sample with respect to a reference surface which is orthogonal to an optical axis of an objective lens, and the like. The measuring device includes a scanner, arranged on a propagation path of illumination light traveling from a light source toward the sample, configured to change an emission angle of the illumination light, and inclination information of the sample is obtained by associating a signal value of a detection signal for reflected light from the sample and the emission angle of the illumination light, while changing the emission angle of the illumination light by the scanner.

An apparatus for automatically recovering breast fillets from poultry bodies or parts thereof has a conveying device to continuously convey the poultry bodies in a conveying direction. A terahertz (THz) system includes a THz generator for generating a THz beam and a THz detector and a scanner including a scanner head for positioning the THz system over the first area. A computing device is coupled to receive signals sensed by the THz detector after interacting with the first area. The computing device determines whether the first area is a metal-contaminated area including metal particles.
